Please, folks, let's not talk about what would happen if the man died.
My prayer is that the Lord's will be done . . .

Prayers for Mr Johnson's family.
I will not give a blanket statement as to prayers for any Dem who suffered a debilitating injury. There are many who seek to undermine our Republic and can only get what they deserve.

I know from having close family members who have suffered stroke, how devastating it can be. I wish him well and hope he can recover fully. I will put aside politics in wishing him well.
To: leadpenny
oh, that sucks! I pray for him and his family. Strokes can be bad or not so bad. I hope he comes out ok and able to function normally.

13 ACU rating last year. 11 in 2004.
Johnson is clearly no friend of decent, civilized Americans.
Still, it is sad for any fellow human being to get struck down like this, and I hope he recovers quickly and fully.

Our prayers for him and his family. He's not very old for this to be happening.

He has my prayers for his personal recovery, but that doesn't mean I have to pray for his political recovery. In case people forget, he stole the election in the first place. My first reaction was a bit Pat Robertsonian--maybe this is a bit of divine providence.
So, I pray for his welfare and that of his family, but I don't mind a bit if he is replaced in the Senate by someone with greater integrity, common sense, and dedication to the survival of our country and our civilization.

Johnson, who turns 60 on Dec. 28, is already a cancer survivor, having had his prostate gland removed in March 2004. According to news reports, he is also deaf in his left ear as a result of surgery to remove a benign tumor from his eardrum after returning from the Vietnam War.
"This is a pretty mean town and lets just keep him in our prayers," said former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas. "This town is so eat up with power that everybody, you know, that's all they think about. You go to ask somebody for a cup of coffee, they question why you asked, there must be an ulterior motive to you asking.
"Senator Johnson is a really nice man from strong South Dakota stock so I am sure he'll be all right," DeLay added.

Screw the Drudge Report take on this.
I work sometimes with stroke victims, he could be alright in short order but it is unpredictable right off.

Since he appeared to recover so quickly, hopefully it was a TIA rather than a stroke. Thank goodness someone had the sense to get him seen by a doc. Symptoms like that should never be ignored. Get well soon, Senator.

BREAKING NEWS NBC, MSNBC and news services Updated: 11 minutes ago NEW YORK - Sen. Tim Johnson, D-S. D., has been hospitalized with symptoms described as stroke-like. The seriousness of his illness has not been disclosed. In addition to concern about Johnson's immediate health, his illness draws political concern in that the Democrats currently hold a 51-49 advantage in seats, giving them control of the Senate. The governor of South Dakota is Republican Mike Rounds. Should there be a vacancy as a consequence of Johnson's illness and Rounds appoints a Republican to fill the term, that would make the count 50
Demorats and 50 Republicans. Under the rules of the Senate, ties votes are settled by the vote of the vice president - currently Republican Dick Cheney - effectively giving control of the Senate to the Republicans.
