We need to stop screwing around and put this nation on a true war footing. While events similar to 1938 play themselves out in the Middle East, our leaders seem obliged to bury theirs heads in the sand and act like it's only a regional problem. The problem is, though, that is it's global - and it's already started. Iraq is just a campaign in a bigger war that many Americans have to yet to fully understand and that the Administration seems hesitant to verbalize.
When we see car manufacturers being tasked to build equipment, when we see enlistment goals being pushed above 100,000 and when we see the nation's citizens being asked to sacrifice for the nation, then, and only then, will we know we're in this for the long haul. Anything else is a charade.
Very good post. We haven't only forgotten 9/11, but I fear a sizable minority never learned its lesson from the beginning.
