Airport's trees stoking "war on Christmas". (SEATAC Update)
Seattle Times ^ | 12-11-06 | Stuart Eskenazi

The departure of Christmas tree displays at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport — the Port of Seattle's response to a local rabbi's insistence that an electric menorah also be put up — is accelerating into an international spectacle in the so-called "war on Christmas."

And that is not what Rabbi Elazar Bogomilsky wanted.

"I am devastated, shocked and appalled at the decision that the Port of Seattle came to," he said Sunday. As news coverage about the airport's trees spread from CNN to ABC to the Paris-based International Herald Tribune, Bogomilsky on Sunday began to receive hateful messages from people holding him responsible for the removal of the trees.

But he does have a history.  He belongs to an organization that lobbies to put menorahs up around the world.

He is not a victim of drive-by legal advice.  He's a player.  He's being either disingenuous, or he's stupid.

Nobody with a brain, who lives in Seattle would pretend for a second that there wasn't a 90% chance of the Port of Seattle doing exactly what they did.

I believe he wasn't being malicious, nor that he was motivated by a disdain of Christians but, he's not an innocent party.

[...I think he has learned his lesson.
Next time he (the Rabbi) will not seek
legal advice from somebody who once
stayed at a Holiday Inn.

LOL!!! I love you Alouette.

Obviously you have never read the Talmud

Obviously you never have either, since you cut and paste from Jew-hating websites.

BTW, the response to every misinterpreted "Talmud Quote" you have posted is found over here.

So you are saying Christians should honor traditions in Judaism? Isn't that the reason why there is different religions, because not everyone wants to believe the same thing?

As usual, Rush has precisely the right take on this. Sadly our local conservative hosts are making excuses for the two twits. (Except for David Boze who is on target.)

For the record, I'm not buying a bit of their "we're innocent" routine. If you bring a lawyer and threaten a lawsuit you're not just making a helpful suggestion that would help everyone. The port only compounds the situation with a spineless PC reaction.

No "War on Christmas"? Think again.

I'm wondering how many people believe the lying rabbi is really "devastated and appalled"?

He most definitely did NOT sound "devastated and appalled" on radio this morning...

Well there are thousands of Messianic Jews the 1st Century Christians were Jews, I don't believe that these Jews ceased practicing Judiasm even if they believed Jesus was the risen saviour and promised Messiah.

The Gentile World that became Christians have no tradition they celebrate in Judaism. You are born a Jew but you are not born a Christian.

"The solution, in order to not offend any major religious group.........Put up a Christmas Tree, put a Menorah on top and have all of the packages under the tree....explode."

ROTFLMAO!

No, you are wrong, Non Value. The Rabbi and his friend who worked at the port specified the height and placement of the Menorah. AND they threatened a lawyer. The Rabbi said so himself this morning on air.

"The airport was very, very wise to fold its trees in view of the lawsuit threats."

I'm not sure about that. I think the courts have ruled that Christmas trees have acquired a largely secular meaning, unlike nativity scenes which are essentially religious in their theme. A Christmas tree has no specifically Christian or religious symbolism, and is therefore not equivalent to a menorah.
