What blather! There were two choices then: Allende and his consolidation of power with the icon of Che over his shoulder or removing the vermin and getting back to sanity.

In war violence happens. The fact that the democratically elected government demanded that Allende be removed gives even more justification to have Allende gone...Pinochet is a hero for taking on the forces of the Left.

Right, but while he was getting rid of legitimate targets, what about people who were uninvolved and innocent that were killed in all the excitement? Couldn't he had tread more carefully when he was prosecuting the suspected?

Just because Allende and the communists had to be gone, doesn't mean it should have happened is such a violent and lawless way. Are you sure that all of the people that Allende had killed were guerrilla fighters and those actively acting to overthrow the gov't?
