Once the solid boosters, which burn bright, are jettisoned, the main engines aren't bright like the old kerosine fuel rockets. Hydrogen burns clear.

What I was referring to was the discussion we had in the live thread yesterday. I'm an engineering student so I don't shy away from the math. ;)

Final readiness polls will be conducted over the next few minutes. Officials are still watching the winds, but all remains OK for now.

You'd think the recent flares would in fact, produce some auroral activity. Not sure why you haven't seen them. Maybe it takes several days for the effects to be seen here on earth. ???
