Is it just the transcript or does Hewitt actually keep repeating Hitchens full name over and over again? Rather annoying.

He frequently does this when he is interviewing Hitchens. He does it when interviewing others as well.

It's not as annoying in the audio.
He repeats the name of the person he is interviewing often for the benefit of people who just tuned in.
He probably does that to remind viewers who may have just tuned in who he's talking to.
viewers = listeners
