President Bush survived an impeachment hearing this week at a meeting of the Lagunitas School Board. The board voted 2-1 in favor of impeaching Bush, but Trustee Suzi Giacomini abstained and, according to the rules of order, that equated to a "no" vote, deadlocking the panel.
Trustee Richard Sloan said he would likely bring it back for another vote after a new trustee is appointed to fill an open seat vacated by Kelly O'Conner.
Sloan said the school district needed to take on the issue because board members swear to uphold and protect the Constitution.
"I consider George Bush to be the single worst enemy against our Constitution that we've had in our whole history," he said.
Denise Santa Cruz-Bowman, who voted against the resolution, said the people she represents weren't in favor and many called to remind her the district needs to focus on school issues. She noted nobody showed up to encourage impeachment.
I hereby vote to impeach this school board.
(Equally as meaningful.)
Sounds like Sloan licked one too many Mickey Mouse characters laced with some REAL bad LSD-25.
Trippy name for the school mascot, eh? :^)
There is no more tyrannical, overbearing dictator on Earth than a liberal who gets his hands on a little bit of power. ;)
I've seen Marin County's voting numbers before. Solidly left-wing.
Is this county (in real life) as whacky and reality-detached as it as appears in print and TV articles?
"I consider George Bush to be the single worst enemy against our Constitution that we've had in our whole history," he said.
Liberals and hyperbole. I'm betting Richard Sloan stis to tinkle.
Unless we can send the old hippies back into the suspended animation they existed in before the Iraq War, we're all in trouble.
Don't trust anyone over 50.
No doubt! A couple of hits now might help cure his self-aggrandized vision of himself.
Can someone get this trustee some psychiatric help? Can you imagine if all the "kooks" in this world could start impeaching their leaders?
C'est le monde à l'envers? Translation: The world is turning upside down?
Enough nonsense already, its time for some serious preservation actions of our free societies. No?
How could this nitwit know anything about the Constitution since he is trying to impeach the US President thru a school board?!?!?!?..no doubt how this school board voted on Bush's Supreme Court nominees...jeez
Yes, unfortunately it's pretty much true, with the exceptions of the extremely wealthy old money (Ross & Belvedere) and the West Marin ranching community.
Almost everyone else is a warm-fuzzy liberal (except when you disagree with them) in favor of social engineering, nanny state, tofu eating, gun-banning, tree hugging, Bambi loving, spare-the-air, diversity... etc... Did I leave anything out?
Amen to that! You should see the school crossing guards around here wield thier power to screw up the morning traffic.
LOL!! Virtually everybody over 50 is either a Sixties Child or had one. The "Greatest Generation" spawned the "Lamest Generation".
Speaking as someone who lived there for thirty years, not at all. Marin is just populated with a lot of wealthy lawyers and psychologists who specialize in issuing pronouncements on how the benighted little people in other parts of the USA should live. ;)
Umm, since when does a "school board" meet to vote on impeachment of the President of the United States? Don't they discuss teaching and lunch programs?
These hippies need to stay out of Federal Politics when they are acting as school board members! You'd never catch the President involving himself in local education matters, would you /sarcasm off
I'm an unapologetic Bushbot, but some of the things he's done really are annoying!
How about we keep the schools out of politics and keep politics out of the schools?
2006 hippies are pathetic.
I know of few of us 50+ people who peeked behind the curtain to realize that the anti-establishment bunch from the 60's & 70's are now THE establishment and are much more oppresive and intrusive than the government ever was back in the day.
The motion fails? In Marin? I'm stuned.
