Congress Open to Passing Bill on Immigration (Citizenship for 20 million illegals!)
The Washington Times ^ | December 4, 2006 | Charles Hurt

Posted on 12/04/2006 6:58:29 AM PST by kellynla

Congress will approve an immigration bill that will grant citizenship rights to most of the 12 million to 20 million illegal aliens in the U.S. after Democrats take control next month, predict both sides on Capitol Hill. While Republicans have been largely splintered on the issue of immigration reform, Democrats have been fairly unified behind the principle that the illegals currently in the country should get citizenship rights without having to first leave the country.

Guess we're past the tipping point. Hispanics now officially have enough political clout to thwart any attempt to preserve our sovereignty, language, and culture.

Now we're just running out the clock.

And while life in the post-USA Amerexico might be tolerable, I'm not sure we'll even get there. The lethal side product of our permanently open borders will be a concomitant accelerated influx of Islam, making even our current PC-hobbled anti-terrorist measures politically unsustainable.

By "sending a message" they surrendered the only firewall in the House and Senate against the President's liberal tendencies.

The RNC gave no support to real conservatives and those who wanted to enforce our immigration laws. That's the "message" the Republicans sent to the electorate. (And, btw, I voted a straight Repub. ticket DESPITE the RNC and GWB's sell-out to Mexico.)

And about "right trash." Nice way to refer to conservatives--did you get the phrase from the DU, or is it your own creation?

The migrants are here and if they want to stay they must register. If they don't choose to register then they will be sent home and arrested if they ever come back...and incarcerated. If you deny them the opportunity they will continue to flaunt the law. What is so hard to understand about that fact?

You can speak for me anytime. I concur 100 percent.

These people would never face the fact that there simply is not nor will there ever be a mass deportation for illegals from this country.

And now see where they are? The very people who COULD have helped are out of office.

But at least they have their issue, right?

We'll find out now, I guess, what the political fallout will be when the Democrats have to actually take responsibility for an immigration policy.

There won't be any, because Bush, a Republican president, will sign the bill into law. If anything, the signing of this bill will improve the chances for a new party to be formed, one that is truly committed to American principles. The GOP could be headed to the scrap heap of history.

This bill is kind of like the weather (or other things) it's inevitable so we might as well lie back and enjoy it.

Big business wants this
Big labor wants this
Big religion wants this and
Big government wants this

Therefor they will get it.

I'm disgusted, but so is life. Hey we almost got this last year anyways.

".....quite simply that there is no other rational remedy."

Nope. Grant them legal status with no voting rights...since they cam in "illegally"

All we need to do is grow some balls.

"Not conservatives who put their country's well being...."

So you're obviously ok with 20+ million illegals being granted Amnesty?
and then likely to vote Dumocrat?

Please explain how this is considered "Conservative".

Sounds like your the fake here.

"Mass deportation"?

Now add hysterical and delusional to your state of denial.

There are already enough comments to prove my point, you don't need to add to them.

Well then, let THEM pay for it. An individual taxpayer/consumer won't be able to avoid all of this cost (implicit and explicit); however, there will be times when one can avoid some of it or most of it.

Actually, I don't see any compelling reason to give them an earned path to citizenship at this time. President Bush should make it clear to Mexico we can't and won't absorb their people. There ARE ways he can deal with this..if he wanted to.

I'm for enforcing the EXISTING laws. The 14th Amendment should be revisited. Reduce the benefits and the incentives that draw them here. Not as easy as it sounds, but it can be done.

I was never angry enough at congress to see the GOP in congress lose power, it has been the Senate from the get-go, especially with the Stupid McCain/Kennedy Gang of 14. We will all rue the day conservatives opted to stay home or vote third party in 2006.

We may end up yearning for the good ole days when the GOP was in charge.

That is exactly what Conservatives need. I'm done with the GOP. I've maintained pretty much the same values I had when I voted for the first time several decades ago, and at that time, those values were in line with many in the GOP. Nowadays, I don't feel that way.

I ignored the warning signs and kept my mouth shut back when Bush was Governor of Texas and when he was campaigning and then won. Hell, I contributed my time and money both when he was Governor and then ran for President. No more.
