Cintas warned against firing immigrant force

A Mississippi Democrat in line to become chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee has warned the nation's largest uniform supplier it faces criminal charges if it follows a White House proposal to recheck workers with mismatched Social Security numbers and fire those who cannot resolve the discrepancy in 60 days. Rep. Bennie Thompson said in a letter to Cintas Corp. it could be charged with "illegal activities in violation of state and federal law" if any of its 32,000 employees are terminated because they gave incorrect Social Security numbers to be hired. "I am deeply troubled by Cintas' recent policy change regarding the Social Security Administration's 'no match' letters," Mr. Thompson said in the Nov. 2 letter. "It is my understanding that hundreds of Cintas' immigrant workers have received these letters. I am extremely concerned about any potentially discriminatory actions targeting this community." In June, President Bush proposed new guidelines concerning "no-match" letters from the Social Security Administration, saying he wanted to make it easier for employers to verify workers' eligibility and continue to hold them accountable for those they hire.

In addition to his chairmanship of the Homeland Security Committee, did somebody appoint him Attorney General as well? The Democrats in Congress need to be reminded of what "Separation of Powers" means.

If someone(s) want to pay into SS with my number, cool. It will only drive up whatever benefits that I may collect in the future.

Two problems.
1. They may claim benefits before you, and you get denied.
2. You will be prosecuted aggressively for claiming unearned benefits.

Trust me. I had identity theft committed against me.

I think employeers should have 100% immunity for firing someone who gave a fake SS#.

These would be the same employers that are required to match the SS withholding. No employer has EVER withheld taxes under an incorrect or fraudulent number and screwed employees. Right? Or should we create a new government bureau to put IRS, SSA, TSA and ICE personnel in every HR and payroll office in the US?

No, --- they will just detect the discrepancy in the amount you report on your 1040 and set about collecting the income tax that you owe on the amount of income they calculate you left off your 1040.

Our government is a bunch of lilly livered chickens, afraid to do anything because of the PC liberal crowd. C'mon guys grow a pair, and start sending the followers of the Shining Path home.

The issue here is that the left wants to buy votes by approving amnesty, and the moderates are thinking the same thing.

I don't care how much money in taxes these fools are going to pay into the system, the reality of the situation is that these people are sucking us dry.

Send the vermin home! Now!
