KENNEDY TO PROPOSE MEDICARE FOR ALL
11/27/06 | cp124

Posted on 11/27/2006 6:51:50 PM PST by cp124

And so it begins.....

Word is that Ted Kennedy will propose legislation for Single Payer health care under Medicare. It will look something like:

Amend the Social Security Act to add a new title XXII (Medicare for All) under which: (1) each eligible individual is entitled to benefits which include the full range and scope of benefits available under the original fee-for-service program under parts A (Hospital Insurance) and B (Supplementary Medical Insurance) of Medicare, with parity in coverage of mental health benefits, subject to appropriate cost sharing; (2) each enrollee is free to choose his or her own doctor and private health plan; and (3) benefits are not less than the benefits offered to Federal employees under Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP).

Establish the Medicare for All Trust Fund.

Amend the Internal Revenue Code to impose: (1) on the income of every individual a tax equal to 1.7% of wages received; (2) on every employer an excise tax equal to 7% of the wages paid to each employee; and (3) on the self-employment income of every individual, a tax equal to the applicable percentage of the self-employment income for such taxable year.

No website link as yet....just got this in an email from a source in D.C. So, as Will Rogers said, if you think health care is expensive now just wait until it's free!!!!

Yes! Because everyone knows that nationalized health care works so well where ever it's tried. Oh, heaven help us.

Hmmm, almost adds up to the 9% health care tax a English friend of mime was complaining about.

I wonder if Teddy the K is doing this for real, or is he just paving the way for Queen Hillary to come in with her "moderate" HillaryCare and save the country?

Teddy and Hillary hate each other, and are rivals for power.

But then again, Hitler and Stalin once signed a pact. Who knows?

The sad thing is that once enacted there will be no way to undo it. Just look at TennCare in Tennessee (the failed experiment in universal health care in Tennessee). It has practically bankrupted the state yet they keep the program going.

This is going to be a disaster that we'll be stuck with for a long time.

As my friends in Australia told me about their system, "anyone that can still pay for private insurance does so because the universal system is so bad".

We have a lot to look forward to over the next few years.

This is HUGE, people. Almost as pivotal a step toward socialism as the "New Deal," and Lincoln's election before that.

This MUST not pass.

no, notice they stayed away from the idea of funding it via a consumption tax.

Yeah, but Teddy would rather hate a D president than an R one. And he's not going to make it to POTUS, so maybe he's gunning for Secretary of Health or some crap.

Bo.

But my wife just got an increase in social security offset by an increase in Madicare Part B. Smells like a new tax to me.

Time for a new political party.
