"In God We Trust," the official national motto since 1956 and a familiar sight on U.S. coins and currency, will be hard to find on the new presidential dollar coins scheduled for release to the public Feb. 15, 2007.
The new gold-colored dollar pieces, featuring images of U.S. presidents, will move the inscription from the face of the coin to the thin edge, along with the year and the previous national motto, "E Pluribus Unum," Latin for "Out of Many, One."

I was an atheist. Of course at the time I would vehemently deny that was the reason. But after I found Christ, I realized that was the original reason I was a deranged zealot.
Not to mention maintaining a monogamous relationship with your spouse.
There are two common phrases that seriously offend me: One is "God d____" and the other is a certain "F" word. I really am bothered by these moronic terms and yet not one person seems to give a rat if it bothers me. Here's the irony: I GET OVER IT!! As others should with offensive comments.
What's Free Republic for then?
Nothing in DC may be built above that.

"..it's a constitutional republic where indivisual rights are what matters not what >50% of the people say."
United States Constitution:
Legislative Powers: Section 8. The Congress shall have power to .......
To coin money, regulate the value thereof, and of foreign coin, and fix the standard of weights and measures;
Your individual rights don't trump the Legislative power to coin money; the elected officials by the MAJORITY do.
A free republic allows me to be offended and GET OVER IT, like I said before. More people should.
I don't remember saying what you wrote in red, and I wasn't talking to you.
This is done to prepare the sheep for the total removal of the words, in a few years when we will have gotten used to it being missing.
Easy there.....the only point I was making is that we all post here because we dislike something.
Are you equating me with that goddamn commie lovin' piece of socialist liberal filth?
...cause I'm not!
Sorry, I missed the impenetrable force field around your text.
Every post is fair game here. Try not to be offended by that.
I was talking about what should be. If I thought something was unconstitutional then damnit I would say unconstitutional.
I'd love to know what you consider an individual right. Anyone who advocates that the majority should always get its way is promoting a DICTATORSHIP! There is no difference between giving one man absolute power and giving the 51% that same power.
He wasn't claiming you said what he wrote in red. In fact, he wasn't claiming anyone said what he wrote in red. The red text was his own words replacing those of mine in my post. And, if you don't know by now, anything posted here at FR is free game for comments by others. It doesn't matter whether someone was "talking" to someone else in order to receive comments about what one writes. Can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.
Amen!
I can understand how those words/phrases can offend you or anyone else who feels the same about the use of such language. However, I hardly see where the phrase "In God We Trust" is equivalent with those others. I also see no harm in having these words printed on our currency, or even spoken in public. Those other words/phrases are usually spoken to invoke at least a perceived harm. And, no one has yet shown me where in the U.S. Constitution it is written that people of this country have a protection against being "offended" by what someone prints/writes/speaks that doesn't cause someone any damage.
Of course you can, unlike ya'll however I don't have the time to read back through 200 post to see where you're coming from. You can jump in but why you would expect anything beyond a dismissal is beyond me.
I would hardly call my comments "jumping in". And, a dismissal from you means little.
I'm sorry. I'm missing something here. How is having your beliefs engraved on national coinage a "right?"
