And it'll be just as much of a failure as the last two. They simply don't get it -- make it the size of the Eisenhower dollar and people just might accept it instead of shun it.

The best argument for $1 coins is vending machines (and they are, last I heard the biggest lobby for them.) The Ike coin won't fit in the coin slots, and 25+ years are invested in the SBA/Sac weight/size/thickness. Canada has big clunky $1 and $2 coins (Loonies and toonies). They are miserable to carry around.

Don't forget parking meters. Using dollar coins instead of quarters would be a help.
