Buddy Holly ~ It's So Easy to Fall In Love
Just got back from a HUGE breakfast and seeing Andy and Cheryl off back to Los Angeles. Then my IE decided it didn't want to play and I had to reboot. laureeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen..............I lost all my windows!!! But now I'm ready to go!
LOL ... it's a classic. How're U today, Ms. Lauren? Full of leftovers?
Hey there Darkchylde!
I have a CD I'll load up, "American Folk Anthology", and play for you. It's got a nice version of Barbara Allen.
If you haven't already, you can go to CD Universe, or another CD on-line store, and do a Search by song for Aura Lee and Barbara Allen. The site will list all the CD's with that song, and you can listen to a sample of each. Maybe you will find one you like!
Luv.....#650!!
Drumbo.....#700!!

FA.....#800!!
Oh MAAAAAAAAA!
We need to get you into tabbed browsing, and save all your open tabs as one page, so that when IE gets wacky on you, you will only have to open up one set of tabs for all your pages.
Okey-dokey? :o)

Great coffee, Kathy!

Hiya retired curmudgeon! ((HUGS)) to you and your bride. Did you have a wonderful Thanksgiving? Get plenty to eat?
Good afternoon, Sonora...did you get plenty to eat for Thanksgiving?
Thanks for the great flyby, alfa!
Thanks. :-)
I found a site that talks about the history of songs
like that, as much as is known anyway. It's got love
songs & pirate shanties (as well as songs arranged
by country & such), it also has examples of the
songs, but only in midi form. I stumbled on it
while searching for something else & it sent me
on a mad hunt for "proper" versions of these songs.
HUGE feast with my sons .. and his girlfriend, her Mom and sis ... table wasn't big enough for all the dishes. So, we all got some yummy leftovers.
But I had a true "Lucy" episode: planned for a month to make Flan .. but, alas, it turned into the Great Flan Fiasco.
Couldn't get the sugar to carmelize well, wrong pan, wrong method ..several tries. I don't what went kerflooey, except it was happening at 2am, and I was cross-eyed tired and braindead, going back forth to the computer to check the internet for tips.
I whipped up the cream cheese, 5 eggs, sweetened condensed
milk, evaporated milk and vanilla .. found out that cream cheese and brown sugar turn into caramel topping in the microwave, so I thought I could improvise with that.
Then, like a dumbunny, it said to put the baking dish in a pan with an inch of water, but the only large pan I had that would fit was one of those tinfoil huge turkey roasting pans.
My *Lucy* debacle was that instead of pouring the water in AFTER the flan custard dish was in, I put the water in 1st and then tried to put the Corning ware heavy pie plate in.
@#$^%( ... all over my oven ... flooding the custard .. ..and I barely was able to lift the unstable tinfoil pan out with the other pan in it to get to the sink #$%^@$%!!! .. it was a close call. Had to throw it all out, except for one small portion I WILL bake in the toaster oven tonight, just to taste the darn thing.
My contribution to dessert ended up being chocolate layer cake from the grocery store on the way to the feast.
And the moral of this story: don't cook something new at 2am when you're tired.
