Two excerpts for your convenience...
"I knew James would be the father of my children one day - but that day was for when we had grown up. I had no intentions of starting a family, although we were living together and had bought our first home, in the Borders.
Look, madam, you are 36 years old, have a professional job, and own a house. If you are not grown up, who is?
This is an old story- a little haggis, a little bagpipe music- next thing you know you have a family.
Women are waiting way too long to have children.

Why do women not want to have babies? Are they influenced by the media and peers that their life will be over? Do their husbands react negatively to any talk of babies?
I have seen some incredible changes in women who have had babies. Changes for the better. Some have become less self-centred, while others seem to have a new maturity and calmness in their personality. To sum up, the woman I have known before and after childbirth have benefited themselves by becoming better human beings. These are my observations, others might have different.
and this...

The only people pressurising anybody are the feminist left who have succeeded in persuading millions of woman that material, professional and financial advancement is somehow more respectable and desirable than the love of children and family. We are all the poorer because of this.
Left and Right seem to have come together on this deification of money, and society is suffering as a result, Scotland especially so, with its population now in freefall. We need family-friendly politics, not the ideologically driven claptrap of the present drift in the Executive's thinking.
I am amazed! Perhaps all is not lost in the land of my ancestors.

One-third of my 3 children was a "happy accident" (i.e. not planned). She's now a teenager.
I agree.
Womens bodies are made to start reproducing sometimes 30 or more years before they actually have a child!!! How can this be natural or good for mother or child?
These women who put off having children don't have a clue how much physical energy is involved in raising a child. They thing they will still have that energy at 50....
Three-fifths of my children were happy accidents. The sweetest little boys, too.
I am a single man in Edinburgh. Let the Scottish women not abstain for another 30 years or so.
One fourth of my family was a "happy accident". She is now 28 and the mother of the world's cutest toddlers. She absolutely is a gift from God.
A woman from Scotland I knew as a child referred to us as "bairns", this being the Scots name for children. Apparently the Norwegian and Swedish word for child is "barn", so perhaps the word "bairn" is a vestige of Viking influence.
It was lat, we had a little wine, we were at our lake cabin...Kelly is 5, now.
