I just received a private e-mail from someone I know from a Marine website who has family in Iraq. There has been a weapons cache explosion that caused many, hundreds of people to be exposed to some chemical that was present in the weapons.

One of the things that is interesting about that report is that the 10th Mountain Division personal were serving an advisory roll. That could explain how they missed a bobby trap or missed an unmarked shell. I mean you can suggest to the Iraqis that they should look for a trap or suspect that the cache contains an unmarked nasty, but in the end it was probably up to the Iraqis (assuming the email report was true and the operation was handled the same way as in the above report).

Okay - it is about time I moved on anyway. Point well taken about alternate views being unhelpful - I most certainly do not want to jolt anyone here out of their "comfort zone". Goodbye...

Has anyone heard from her after the story of the missing contractors came out?
To: 1COUNTER-MORTER-68
Hope posting was not out of line. It was public. Probably best not to tell her about all this. At any rate that report states no US personal were harmed in that operation. The unit reported in the email was reported as 5/14. I am not military and do not know what that means. To a civilian like myself the email however does appear to be from a different unit. Let us hope it was all in error.

Simply increasing its popular support by showing the rightness of our objectives from the start is broadly (but immeasurably) helpful. Mostly through politics, admittedly, but that's how real-world wheels begin turning.
""
Too late - at this point in the war most in the U.S. and the west could not care the least about any smoking gun that might turn up. Want to turn public opinion? Show progress in Iraq by conducting a successful Counterinsurgency campaign. Hint - hint - COIN is typically 20% military and 80% political..."
In that case, NOT having a chunk of your own government and the media tards constantly giving hope and assistance to the enemy (and giving excuses to allies) is worth alot.

THOSE WHO DO NOT LEARN FROM HISTORY ARE DOOMED. (Like the caps? Like the sagacious reframing of a classic line? ).
VaMar, shoddy arguments reflect shoddy thinking. Make a case, and leave off with the Jr. High name-calling. This site is about Grad School Name-calling. Get with it.

Would you happen to know what the "5-14" reference in the early post translates as? Fifth what of the 14th infantry what? The only reference I can find to the fifth of the 14th is to a unit that was deactivated ten years ago.

Did you see that it was in Baghdad, mystery?
You doing OK? Have you heard from Milo tonight?

So... who's responsible for the BUSHLIED keyword up above? I'd like to know that too, cgk.
The Mods can tell who put up what Keyword, and that one should be identified, IMO.....

The last thing the MSM would want it to admit that there were/are WMD because then they would HAVE TO admit that Bush was right.
If they had to admit it, now would be the time. I can see the headlines:
DEMOCRATS FIND WMDs IN IRAQ!!!

To: ArmstedFragg
I did a general search and a search of the Fort Drum website and could find nothing in relation to the 5/14. Could it have been a newly formed unit ? Perhaps since some of the 10th appear to be working as advisor's for the Iraqi military and they are within a 'Multinational Division' there unit designation may have been changed or created anew for this 'Multinational' operation. But I am civilian and not the best to figure this puzzle out.

Yeah. They're the heroes. Riiiight...
