I just received a private e-mail from someone I know from a Marine website who has family in Iraq. There has been a weapons cache explosion that caused many, hundreds of people to be exposed to some chemical that was present in the weapons.

Let's not worry about the politics until we find out how many people are affected by this please. That is what my post was stating and why it was posted to the person it was responding too.
Did this happen yesterday or today?
WHy no news coverage?

Any further updates or developments on this?
Scouring the dino media has resulted in zip, zero, nada which is not surprising.
The blogosphere has also yeilded the same.
Off to check Ray Robinson's site now.

"...Why would US troops falsify the report ?No way would I believe they would, either.
I'll refrain from speculation, we'll know soon enough.

This is hearsay reporting at best, irresponsible and dangerous at worst. E-mails one or two times removed should be sat upon to avoid unnecessary speculation and possible undue alarm among families who have service men and women serving in Iraq. A true FReeper Exclusive should be an eye-witness account not some e-mail...

My thoughts as well. Several factors involved, but I do not buy it as of yet.

It is an eye witness account, told through 2 person, admittedly, but from the source who got it first hand

You are correct, however email is now accepted in court from what I have heard. If you sent an email containing a terrorist threat, you are just as libel as making the terrorist threat in person, for example. But we definitely need confirmation. Perhaps we should probably look for confirmation in the Iraqi media. Sounds like a lot of Iraqi's were injured.

While a different war - we had numerous false-postives for chemical attacks during the Desert Storm ground war - most were caused by a toxic mix of a modern battlefield and the oil-field fires. Not sure what this account is all about - but one should not specualte until more definitive information is available.

Someday you should hope to have the credibilty of
RaceBannon here.
If "he" felt the report was credible enough to post here, especially in "Breaking News", that's good enough for me.

This would have happened 36+ hours ago and there are no official reports?
