UNITED NATIONS As Palestinian Arab rockets struck two Israeli towns yesterday, U.N. bodies prepared to launch no fewer than two overlapping "fact-finding" missions to second-guess Israel's anti-terrorist tactics.
President Carter could head one of those missions.
The U.N. General Assembly is expected to convene a special emergency session tomorrow to deal with the November 8 Israel Defense Force artillery strike on the northern Gaza town of Beit Hanoun, which killed 19 civilians.
A draft resolution for the assembly session calls on the U.N. secretary-general to establish a fact-finding mission into the event and requests that he report back to the assembly in a month.
And yesterday in Geneva, the U.N. Human Rights Council, which in its five months of existence has failed to pass one resolution on any country other than Israel, concluded its third emergency session on the Jewish state.
In the session's resolution, the council called on its president, Ambassador Alfonso de Alba of Mexico, to establish a fact-finding mission to investigate the incident at Beit Hanoun.
A diplomat in Geneva who requested anonymity said the sponsors of the resolution are planning to ask Mr. Carter to head the investigation.

Thanks.
There is nice peanut music there, too.
" If Jews in this country don't want to support Israel, why should I?"
My first answer would be "because the Jews in this country aren't really Jewish. So many of the ones who support Israel have left to go live in Israel."
BUT the REAL reason is:
"Because it is the right thing to do."
I support Israel for many reasons. Much of my family lives there. My cousin --- and soon my nephew --- are in the IDF. So I have a personal call.
I also have a religious call.
But purely ethically --- Israel is a stable democracy surrounded by crazy nuts that want to kill it.
It is our job, as another stable democracy, to save them, just as it our job to save a man being mugged or a woman being raped.
We do it because it is our ethical duty. And we are good people.
So what if there are idiots who ignore Israel? The same cowards won't dial 911 when they hear a woman being raped in the streets.
Their cowardice does not make it "OK" for us to ignore Israel.
Nor to ignore a woman being raped in the street.
Is it OK to ignore a raped woman's cries because her brother ignore her?
Of course not.
It really galls me that the MSM still refers to his maggot as "President" and then refers to President Bush as "Mr. Bush". The very least they could do is refer to him as "Former President". Same goes for Bubba Toon.
)))))gggggrrrrrr(((((
That's why I was laughing!
thx.awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yes I can........suckes getting the week or month "vacation" from FR.
Israel would be well-advised to refuse Carter entry into Israel. He's caused more American deaths in the last twenty-seven years than anyone else so God only knows what favours he'll do for Israel.
Please, please let him go stand in front of a tank! Then Jimmah could join that other nutcase in hell.
I thought people were supposed to become wiser with age. Maybe this is just a testamony to how stupid he was in the first place.
See post 42.
Because we know the end of the story - most Jews don't!
"I hate to say this, but when is he gonna depart for the pearly gates?"
I won't be able to attend Jimmah's funeral but you can be sure I'll send a nice card saying I approve of it.
(Mark Twain, para.)
William Safire has reported that Cyrus Vance acknowledged that, if he had had a second term, Carter would have sold Israel down the river.
There will be a week's worth of television specials on him when he does and praise for all his "good deeds" etc.
But the rats will still get 70+% of the Jewish vote. Go figure.
If they pick Carter ... it because they want to be sure of the outcome
Ain't it the truth!
Verdict: Israel Guilty
There is no enemy of America that Carter won't coddle, no friend of America that Carter won't condemn.
Dhimmi Carter !!
Just what we need. We ought to be kicking the UN out of the US not supplying them with more buffoons.
