So far, CNN is only picking it up. Apparently a gunman with a semi-auto has gunned down several people randomly, at three (3) locations, and is still on the loose. Several police departments are in on a massive man hunt. One shooting occurred near a day care center.

I think statistics may very well prove you're right.
I have often wondered, if one was to consider the US Armed Forces as a whole, if the death rate from automobile accidents for the period of time we have been in Iraq would not exceed the combat deaths.
Still, any death of a young patriot is a tragedy.

DETROIT (AP) -- Police were searching for a gunman after a series of shootings that killed two people and wounded three others in the span of 10 minutes Thursday morning.
All the shootings were in a three- to four-block area on the city's west side, Detroit police spokesman James Tate said.
A 58-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man died in the shootings after 6 a.m., Tate said.
He described the suspected shooter as a young man wearing a hooded sweatshirt.
The woman was shot first, inside a vehicle in front of a day care facility, Tate said. There were no children at the day care at the time and the shooting didn't appear to be related to the facility, he said.
The man was shot around the corner, Tate said.

Police: 5 Shot In Detroit Shooting Spree
DETROIT, Mich. -- A massive manhunt is under way for a man who police said randomly opened fire in Detroit's west side Thursday morning.
Two people are dead. Three others were injured in the attack. Police told Detroit TV station WDIV that they do not believe the five victims knew each other. CNN reported the shootings seemed random.
Detroit police said the woman who was fatally shot is about 48 years old and the man who was fatally shot is about 58 years old.
The gunman is still on the loose, according to police.
Police told WDIV that the people were shot in three different locations. Police said the shootings all happened in the area of Linwood and Pingree streets. One location is near the Angel Land Daycare.
There were no children inside the day care at the time of the shootings, and police said it is closed while officers are investigating.
"We are gathering details," said James Tate, Chief of Detroit police. "If you have any information on these shootings, please contact Detroit police homicide."
Tate told WDIV that the gunman is described as a black man between 18 and 25 years old. He is about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs between 160 and 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detroit police Homicide at 313-596-2260, or provide anonymous tips by calling 800-SPEAK-UP.
Officials are warning residents in the area to stay in their homes or businesses.
