WASHINGTON -- Like many fellow Democratic politicians, Sen. Barack Obama is no stranger to the pulpit.
But in December, Obama will go where few progressive Democrats usually venture--to a large, conservative evangelical church that boasts a Sunday attendance of more than 20,000 people.
Even more unusual is that he'll attend at the invitation of megachurch Pastor Rick Warren, evangelical icon and author of the popular Christian book "The Purpose-Driven Life."
Aides to Obama say he will appear at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, Calif., on Dec. 1, World AIDS Day.
"Sen. Obama has a deep respect for Mr. Warren's commitment to fighting AIDS and poverty," said Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor.
While he was working on his latest book, "The Audacity of Hope," Obama asked Warren to help by reading one of his draft chapters. Warren issued the invitation to Obama to speak at the church next month.
The messages that Friday will focus on AIDS and HIV, a key area of ministry for Saddleback Church. While many conservative Christians have shied away from AIDS because of their discomfort with its connections to premarital sex and homosexuality, Warren and his wife, church co-founder Kay Warren, have been vocal advocates for patients living with the disease.
Shortly before the release of his latest book, Obama issued a call to progressives to shed bias against religious people and to recognize "overlapping values."

No. Abortion, however, is not the only moral issue - and abortion is not going away anytime soon.
Does not Warren ignore/disobey the direct command of Romans 16:17 and does he not also fail to protect the sheep from false teachers and their false teachings (Manning, Nouwen, Merton, Campolo, Mclaren and etc. can all be found on www.pastors.com by quote, book endorsement and/or etc.)?
Do you not think that it is important for pastors and the church to keep away from false teachers and their false teachings?
Are you going to answer the questions?
Think about it. Otherwise it is apparent you don't understand the fallacy... perhaps you can ask somebody you trust what it means. You could look it up online or I could provide you with a link, as I would imagine there are plenty of links on the subject.
And don't be so sensitive. Have you noticed what the Catholic Church has to say about those who do not sit under the authority of the Catholic Church? Talk about intolerant...Good grief!
Romans 4:25: "He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification."
So...what are the legitimate concerns of the emergents?
What about the two questions I asked in the post?
It is not alleged. Seriously.
What about the two questions I asked in the post?
In time, friend, in time. Hopefully tonight. But I have to keep responding to posts and that takes time too. ;-) I'm reading CDL's post, the link, looking for my copy of the PDL and PDC for verification, and spending time with my family.

read up on this as it was helpful to me to know more about what this was exactly.
Some light! Thank you for providing some light. While I have examined Warren's statement of faith, other online documents and his books, nobody has previously provided anything specific for me to examine.
We started a Bible study and used Warren's Purpose Driven Life book as a text. Three people gave their life to the Lord in that study. That was over a year ago and now they're just about ready to start their own Bible study. While I didn't care for all the different versions he used, I didn't really see a problem, especially with people giving their life to the Lord.
In the link you provided, that second paragraph is excellent. I often say the exact things on FR.
To better see from where I'm coming, albeit briefly, you might want to check out post 20 and 54 of this thread.
I just had to say that before I continue reading the link you provided.
Obama is doing a lot of very smart things. People better keep an eye on him!
This proves that Obama is a smart politician and is planning to run for president. Rick Warren is a man of love - he would not shun someone because of politcal ideology.
Liberals won this election with mass deception, the very thing that Christ warned would be 'Let no man deceive you'. So I must question the love of what and whom would entice a preacher to invite a politician from the party of mass deception to speak at church.
I was thoroughly bewildered as to whom the author was trying to connect. If it is a book for the unsaved then he fails, for the gospel is never at anytime clearly presented. The closest he came was when he wrote, "Real life begins by committing yourself completely to Jesus Christ" (p. 58). In Warren's gospel no mention is made of sin, repentance or even the Cross. But that's not true. On the very page referenced, page 58, Warren states:
The Bible promises, "To all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." Will you accept God's offer? From there Warren invites the reader to pray.First, believe. Believe God loves you and made you for this purposes, Believe you're not an accident. Believe you were made to last forever. Believe God has chosen you to have a relationship with Jesus, who died on the cross for you. Believe that no matter what you've done, God wants to forgive you.
Second, receive. Receive Jesus into your life as your Lord and Savior. Receive his forgiveness for your sins.
I hope we can agree the author, Gary E. Gilley, didn't accurately represent what Warren wrote on page 58. This was (and is) very easy to verify. I'll wait before moving on. Or maybe I'll go eat dinner!
Give us a break! Barack HUSSEIN Obama is a liberal opportunist, and Rick Warren is a self-serving, egotistical, narcissistic money machine. Follow the money.
If Rick Warren protected his own church from false teachers, he would have to resign! :-)
Warren gives away 90% of what he makes. How much do you give away?
A small country could exist off 10% of what Warren makes. You people really need a new slogan.
I would suggest that you need a reality check. I have no slogan - I am simply asking how much others give away. How much do you give away?
It's neat that Mr Warren makes so much money. Good for him and even better for those he helps. Mr. Warren has done a lot of good in this world. How much good have you done? [btw, that's not a slogan - it's a question]
