Document shows Bush guided CIA on detention

By David Johnston

The New York Times

The Central Intelligence Agency has acknowledged for the first time the existence of two classified documents, including one signed by President George W. Bush, that have guided the agency's interrogation and detention of terror suspects.

The CIA disclosed the existence of the documents in a letter Friday sent from the agency's associate general counsel, John McPherson, to lawyers for the American Civil Liberties Union.

The contents of the documents were not revealed, but one document, as described by the ACLU, is "a directive signed by President Bush granting the CIA the authority to set up detention facilities outside the United States and outlining interrogation methods that may be used against detainees."

The second document, according to the group is a Justice Department legal analysis "specifying interrogation methods that the CIA may use against top Al Qaeda members."

ACLU lawyers said they would now press for public disclosure of the contents of the documents

The NYT and the rest of the Democrats are setting the stage for impeachment.

The Dems have said "We won't impeach," but I guarantee that this story will have sequels, and we will see Pelosi and Reid talking about 'troubling reports'.

They're gonna do it, folks.

They're gonna do it, folks.

Course they are. They've been gearing up for it since the day Clinton was impeached.

So, obviously all they got were heavily redacted memos, and they are now speculating their behinds off. My guess: Nothing interesting was redacted anyway because if there was, the scumbag rogues at the CIA would have leaked like a burlap colostomy bag.

Now look what you've done! The thread will devolve into another 'Don't blame us!' borefest.

Those voting blocs who participate in an electoral success always make sure they get credit when something good happens on election day, but whenever a disaster happens, suddenly they claim someone ELSE made them vote as they did...

In the National Geographic TV documentary on 9/11, aired a few times this year, an FBI agent was quoted as saying the U.S. would need to experience more massive acts of terror on its soil before it would ever wake up to the fact we are at war.

A lame duck President with little more than two years left?
Nah. That would backfire on the rats and they know it. There will be "investigations" meant to embarrass Bush and the Republicans (and molify the scumbags' looney-tune "base") but no impeachment.
