Gunmen dressed in uniforms similar to those worn by Iraqi police abducted dozens of people.
Five top officers were later arrested - including the police chief of Karrada district where the abductions occurred.

as interior ministry police to seal off the street
and gain entry to the higher education ministry.
I picked up two themes in this artice.
The police rescued the teachers, but it was bad
cops who planned the kidnapping. Yes? No?
Well, this doesn't have to mean that all of the abductors were policemen. The 5 arrested Police officers, apparently part of a militia, could have "dressed-up" some fellow militiamen as police for the abduction. There are a lot of possibilities.
Basically yes.
The gist seems to be that they turned their backs while the kidnappers took the victims.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The 'kidnappers' were Ministry of Interior police.
Really.
Well now, that was nice of the "police."
Glad it all worked out.
Now that they're free we can rest easily that the success of the operation that freed them won't be reported.
Congratulations to Iraq. This is real progress.
