Apparently the Rep leadership has chosen to go for the so called "moderate middle"...?
IMHO conservatives need to consider forming a whole new political party

A big mistake and will result in more Republican loss.

Someone with 100% from the ACU isn't conservative enough for you?
Perhaps the problem is more with you then with the guy.

I thought it was these "pure conservatives" that were going to teach the party the lesson... seems the education is going both ways.

If the Republicans move LEFT in 2008, i.e. Giuliani or McCain, its time.
Its time for conservatives to LEAVE the Republican Party en masse and see how many votes they can get by being Democrat Light.

Been saying that for a loooong time. People are so resistant to change.
Reagan, an ex-democrat, rescued the repubs from themselves once. Don't see anybody that could do that today.

I'm not so sure it would be the unmitigated disaster everyone says a second 'conservative' party would be. Coalition government, however, isn't pretty.

Then we would never win again.
I was excited about Steele. But Martinez? What?
Nice guy and all, but does he have what it takes to be a political party chief?

"IMHO conservatives need to consider forming a whole new political party" Makes you wonder if its about ideology or just winning elections. Happens on both sides of the aisle.

IMHO conservatives need to consider forming a whole new political party The GOP cannot win without support from all its factions. If conservatives split off, they'll never win anything.

IMHO conservatives need to consider forming a whole new political party That is exactly what will be happening now. I have watched this coming down he runway for the past 6 years!!!!

Sharp left turn coming up ahead.
The Pubbie establishment is going to completely misread this election result and run for the center/left. Christie Whitman and the Blue Bloods have spoken.

Yeah, that whole "let's not vote for Republicans" thing worked REALLY well last Tuesday.
Here's a better idea: vote for the conservative in the primaries. If s/he doesn't win, support the Republican in the general election, because other races WILL result in conservatives being elected. They can then act as a foil against the RINOs while preventing Democrat control of the government.
