Yes, those who obeyed the law while they were here by using fake SSNs, dodging taxes, using govt services paid for by US taxpayers, etc.

Fine upstanding people.

Well, I live in a state that has LOTS of these fine upstanding people. You like crime, poverty, a permanent educational underclass which will vote itself money from your pocket? You want nonassimiliation? You want to see Mexican, not American flags flying? You want to have people refuse to stand for the national anthem? Welcome to California. The lovely land where the Mexican drug cartels are taking over the local governments in SoCal cities, and flying the US flag upside down at government installations. Regan's amnesty only encouraged more of the same behavior. Hagel Martinez will have the same impact. Maybe we should just switch countries with Mexico while we have the chance.

Plus, if you believe our government can separate the wheat from the chaff, or has any intention of enforcing our borders after twenty years of neglect, I can only call you naive in the extreme. What was it, some 4 million new "citizens" that were admitted without security checks due to governmental oversight? Oh yes, trust them, by all means.

And just in case you hadn't thought this through...thanks to bills like the one your Senator proposed, we will have MUCH GREATER LEGAL IMMIGRATION OF MUSLIMS, both as citizens and as guestworkers. That will do wonders both for our security and the future of the Republic, won't it?

THIS issue determines every other issue, in case you didn't notice. The Republicans are killing our country a little more slowly then the Democrats, but not by much.

If anyone is forcing the burkha, it's the naive and/or lazy who trust our present government-Democrats AND Republicans-to do their jobs to protect and defend this country.

But don't worry, it will be ok...just go back to sleep.

Mike Steele would be a fine choice for RNC Chair. He's very smart, saavy, and charismatic; and genuinely conservative.

Russert can't fall asleep. Have you seen those eyes? He has GUN syndrome (Gotch u Now!).

"Yes, those who obeyed the law while they were here by using fake SSNs, dodging taxes..."

According to the bill it's for people who paid taxes.

But what was Lee Atwater's position on illegal immigration?

What was Gillespie's? What was Mehlman's?

You don't know, because it never mattered. The head of the party does not set any policy -- whatsoever.

This is just an excuse to GOP-bash.

Enjoy. I suspect the burka will be an improvement.

Okay, we've got:

Asa Hutchinson
Mike Steele
Mel Martinez

Anyone else?

I'm so glad the RNC floated names like this before announcing. ha ha. "GOP base and constituents....who needs them?

"And now the Republicans pour gasoline on their train wreck..."

...that's off track, with 10 engineers standing at the control panel flicking a bunch of un-related switches next to the big red one that says "BRAKE".

Yes, dramatically increasing the legal immigration of Muslims under Hagel-Martinez will help fend off the old caliphate just fine.

Yesirreee bob. Just ask France how well high levels of muslim immigration have worked for them.

"being a centrist, do you think he got the offer because of his surname? "

Yep, this is a blatant attempt at sucking up to Hispanic voters. When will we realize that outside of Cuban voters, going after the rest of Spanish voters is largely a waste of time? The conservative ones vote for us anyway, the rest are too steeped in their Liberation theology to listen to a conservative message.

OOkay, how about this isn't a part-time job. He's a Senator, helllooo...

We need a strong, dynamic personality... to stand up to the Dems. Have you ever heard my senator, Mel Martinez talk? Nice guy but booorrring and unimpressive.

BAD CHOICE.

Not only that. They have to be a good fundraiser and someone who has a general idea of how to get Republicans on the same message.

Have the problem with Repub media exposure is they are all over the place. They do not succeed as the Dems do in banging out loudly to get attention.

Newt Gingrich

I think Newt is the perfect man for the job. He is already running a media center all designed to get Repubs on board and with better exposure to the public. He's also already on public record showing he has the desire to not let 2006 happen in 2008.

He wants to help the Republican party get back into power. Why not let him do it from a position of power.

I oppose Martinez because I've never heard squat about him. Now is not the time to put up someone who has to prove himself. 2008 is critical to the WOT and rebuilding our majority. We need leadership that is proven.
