Sunday, November 12th, 2006
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean; presidential counselor Dan Bartlett.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Sen. Joe Lieberman, D-Conn.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev.; White House chief of staff Josh Bolten.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Sens. Joe Biden. D-Del., and Carl Levin, D-Mich.; Bolten.
LATE EDITION (CNN) : Bolten; Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz; Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.
I'm with you man. Chicago rules. Now let's see about Patrick Leahy...
I hate to say this...but, I think some of the talk show hosts are not good enough at educating themselves on some things..
Maybe that is why they are more reactive...like Hannity blaming Bush for Katrina...if he had read the LIVE thread here on FR...he would have seen in real time...that President Bush did everything HE could..under the laws of this country..and against a HURRICANE.
Last week, I heard a caller call into Mark Levin's show..and he started talking about the different parts of Canada that are approving Sharia Law...
Mark blasted him ..and said Canada is our ALLY and friends...and he wasn't going to listen to him..then hung up.
THERE are places with Sharia Law..and Canada IS more liberal in what they "let" the Muslims do...and their immigration policy re: Muslims is a LOT less strict than ours.
I felt bad for the caller...and slightly disgusted by Mark's either lack of knowledge, or lack of caring about what the man was telling him.
bump
Some things on your list I did not know about. I didn't know Ashcroft got chastised for releasing The Wall memo. Sheesh. One of the few shining example of honesty and Ashcroft got taken to the wood shed?
And how distressed we all were when Sandy Burglar got to la-di-da walk away with classified documents! You got that right.
Oh an my, yeah...the infamous yellowcake uranium, Joe Wilson and Val Plame. Now THERE'S a fine example of a stupid decision. That mindless hysteria got played and did more damage than we will ever know. The fact that it was Armitage who did the deed got what? One day's play? While the Plame thing went on for MONTHS!
You know what I think? I think there's has got to be a reason, a nefarious reason, why so much was mishandled. For sure I've read so many Freep threads about all this, listened to Rush and others lament how leaks went unprosecuted, how Burglar got away with theft, on and on and on. There's only ONE reason, beyond total incompetance and I'm not ready to believe this YET. It has to be that there's a whole bunch in the pubbie party guilty of the same thing.
Now I don't know of any pubbie who stole classified docs from the national archives but put that aside for a sec. Perhaps some of the pubbie guys were ALSO leaking to the Times. Thus prosecutre NO ONE rather than risk losing a seat.
Or else it's total incompetance. Hey, perhaps Bush was overwhelmed what with the 2000 election delayed and all and he couldn't just willy-nilly fire everybody. Dubya has had MORE major events thrown at him than any other president almost. He had Katrina, that Chinese airplane thing early on, of course September 11, the war in Iraq, the Korean problem, the Syria/Lebanon thing. The mind boggles. The little bit Clinton had to be bothered with took too much time from his Monica Moments. And still we have a booming economy, have had no further terrorist attacks for five years and we survived 9-11 very well.
Sheesh, this administration and the pubbies should be flying high.
The fact that they're not illustrates SOMETHING...something seriously wrong with how things are run.
#761, I disagree they held office all those years because the News Media, and the Unions were big. Both are way down now,and in their last stages before the tumble. The New Media is getting bigger all the time and providing People with better info than the DBM. Even Rats get upset that the DBM cannot explain complicated things, and punt the ball. The New fairly conservative Dems like Heath Shuler will not be told how to think, and how to vote, if they become wimpy they will be gone. He was a lousy Quarterback, but wants to get re-elected,and if he takes orders and votes the Dem line he is gone. If he bucks Pelosi, he would look good in his district. It is a win win for Pubbies, she will punish him and it will come out and she will look like a female Hitler(like she is),and she is going to be walking on eggs for two years trying to keep nutcases and Rookies from Ruining her Debut.
Three very different and very powerful references, but ones that come together very well. I'm particularly moved by the piece on the white poppy.
Thank you. One of the best things about FR is the education we get on things we should already know, but most of us don't.
Right before Lidle died in the plane crash our sports guys were doing a program on him and they were beyond vicious. He called in to say that he'd like to meet with them as they really didn't know him. They slammed him big time and a few days later the guy was dead. All the media are ego maniacs. A pox on them.
I fully expect Chris Matthwes to have an on the air orgasm if hillary wins in 08
Joe LIEberman is an opportunist with no center core of principles.
#805, I would love to draft Haley Barbour back, he would have the DBM and the DNC running away like scalded dogs.
I agree. But the rumors coming out about the ISG report say that it recommends that our policy towards the Middle East be re-evaluated, including having direct talks with Syria and Iran and having a more "even-handed" policy towards Israel and the Muslim world. If the President goes along with the recommendations, then Bolton would not fit in with this new policy and he will probably be replaced. I think that putting up his name for confirmation was just going through the motions to appease the Republican base and the Administration knew he wouldn't be confirmed.
The fact that Bush has nominated someone for Defense Secretary who is a member of the ISG is a pretty good indication of Administration intentions. This is very sad.
I haven't listened to Hannity is quite a while. I saw on FR that he was giving Harold Ford, Jr. all the time he wanted........IOW french kissing Ford like he does with all his great american lib friends.
Yes, it is slow as molasses.
I am inclined to believe that Bolton will continue as our Ambassador to the UN.....by virtue of an Executive Order.
Everything that gov_bean_counter says in #809 should be in the Top 10 this week. A brilliant post, and just the words and thoughts that I wish I had written?
No offense but I try to not pass judgment on the talk shows. For example, I don't really like Boortz. But, he has a following that he persuades to usually vote Repubican. So, it's not good to complain too much. There is no replacement for Rush, IMHO. Hugh Hewitt is actually in a class of his own too. Oh well, different strokes for different folks, and all that. The bottom line is every one of these guys helps us so I appreciate it.
Yeah, yeah.... promises, promises.....
1) He wasn't Lamont
2) The Republican was a non-entity
3) He supports fighting the war on (Jihadi) terror, including in Iraq, and supports the state of Israel
I think that about sums it up.
Oh, and as a bonus he will give the Dhimmicrats the heebee jeebees as they worry about him the way Republicans have had to worry about McLame, Hagel, Graham and crew.
It couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of folks...
