I remember that the original Israel disappeared into the maw of Assyria. IAC, many Americans Jews have given up on Israel as just another bad example of nationalism/western imperialism.

In this election, 87% of the Jewish vote went to Democrats, the worst showing for the GOP since the 64 election.

Lets cut the garbage already.
There will be some very powerful Democrat Chairman who are unfriendly to Israel. On the other hand, as wrong as she is on so many issues, Palosi will be the most Pro-Israel Speaker in history.
Israel has nothing to fear from the Congress in the next two years.
Israel has much to fear from the Bush/Rice/Baker Arabist Administration on it's path to America's greatest legacy.

Are you suggesting that the Democratic Congress is pro-Israel and the Bush administration is anti-Israel?
To: EveningStar
I'm not suggesting it, I'm saying it clearly.
There won't be anything out of the Democrat Congress that will be anti Israel compared to when Republicans were in charge.
The Bush Administration will be hostile and damaging to Israel.

Like you I am still puzzled. Historically, the Jews were discriminated against by the old Northern establishment Republicans. They couldn't join the restricted clubs of the old Northern WASP. Clubs that the families of Howard Dean, Lamont, Grey Davis, Hilary Clinton, Lowell Wicker, and Jay Rockefeller's families belonged to. These people are still very antisemitic. Many live in lower Connecticut and are on Lamont's contributers list. All they are all democrats now. I call them the Christian left. They are the anti-Israel democratic left.

Liberalism punishes US allies and placates the US's enemies. It is a world outlook that is incapable of discerning friend from foe, and attributes a Manichean view to those who can. Pray for Israel because as a friend of ours it will be in dire danger with the Liberal smart set demanding it make concessions. Golan Heights next. Why not give them to Assad as an act of friendship and trust? Forget about all those missiles and rockets passing through his country on their way to Lebanon to kill Jews. Why not be show him you're big enough get over ancient quarrels? Tolerance for Iranian nukes. Why not? Their president is just joking, like Borat. Who knows where the smart set of the Democratic Party will take us?

What you say is a problem for me, though. I would not punish the Israelis because the vast majority of American Jews vote for a party that gives lip service to Israel's security. The fate of Israel is not of concern to most American Jews, who are secular, probably ashamed of those manly Jews, and not too keen on their martial arts. Israel is a friend of ours. Conservatives should not turn our back on Israel because the socialist in America have.

Interesting how they didn't mention the dems treatment of Joe Lieberman one time, anywhere in the article...
And which dem rep from Michigan was it that refused to call Hezbollah a terrorist group? Was that Dingle, or someone else?

Anybody suppose the MSM will now begin to take a look at the anti-semitism in the Defeatocratic Party?Nah.
Expect it immediately after the NYT disavows Walter Durante's reporting on the Soviet Union, and the Pulitzer Committee pulls the Pulitzer Prize...

Perhaps we best start believing in Biblical prophecy. I'm not a scholar on the Bible, but I think it says we will end up being of no service to Israel. Kind of working out that way.

That's because the muslims only want to kill the Jews... No big deal. But leftist Jews are more frightened that Christians will try to convert them! I honestly believe that's the greatest fear of liberal Jews. Never mind that observant Jews don't really worry about that too much. Just the secular Jews.

Silly article. Each party tries to outdo the other when it comes to supporting Israel. There are about 6 million Jews in the US, about 2% of the population. Yet, there are in the 109th Congress 11 Jewish Senators (2 Reps and 9 Dems) and 26 Jewish Congressmen in the House, [25 Dems and one Rep]. That amounts to 37 members out of 535 or 7% of Congress. Moreover, they comprise 11% of the Senate. Kohl retired but Cardin was elected so the number in the Senate remains the same and the House will have an additional six.
Israel has nothing to fear. Their interests are well-protected.

"Historically, the Jews were discriminated against by the old Northern establishment Republicans. They couldn't join the restricted clubs of the old Northern WASP. Clubs that the families of Howard..." This is true. But what is wrong with people wanting to be with their own kind? Now discrimination in public services is a different matter. And by the way, the Jews themselves can and are quite discriminating and clanish.
