Having been a teacher for 19 years, I know that some kids would benefit more from working than from spending another year in a classroom. Instead of changing compulsory attendance to 18, Lynch and his education cronies ought to focus instead on work-study arrangements.

Dems want to raise taxes; sun rises in the east. Dems live to raise taxes for one specific reason: the more money they can take away from people, the more power they have to exert influence and make people dependent on them. Simple as that. Dems aren't interested in solving problems. They're interested in creating them.

I'm for a flat tax...and make it low----and no more loopholes for anyone.

How's that?

I guess people voted to pay more taxes.

I read this all the time and it makes me so angry. The people who actually pay taxes didn't vote for anything of the sort. A democrat swing as we had this year might consitute 25% of them voting for socialists instead of the usual 20%.

The vast bulk of people lobbying and voting to pay more taxes aren't the good hearted and selfless out to give something back to society, they're the ever growing ranks of tax recepients who are voting on their own livelyhood.

Saying people voted to raise their taxes implies at least a modicum of consent. The only consent that is actually going on is acquiescence with the robbery because the alternative is federal prison.

So same old same old. Dems lie their way into power. Too bad so many of our supposedly "Conservative" radio talk show hosts and pundits were so busy squealing about how bad Bush and the GOP stank they helped the Dems do it. Maybe if these arrogant fools see their taxes go up and up and up, they will quit being so PR stupid.

Frankly, I am serious disinclined at this point to do ANYTHING to help them stop it. These rich self important pompous twits did everything they could to achieve this result, let them reap as they have sown.

With the notable exceptions of Mark Levin, Mike Medeved and Huge Hewitt. Many of our supposedly "Conservative" Radio Talk Show hosts, Columnists, TV Pundits and "Conservative" publications were so busy squealing about how bad Bush and the GOP stank all the time they totally forgot to attack the Dems on anything. They, along with party traitors like McCain, did everything they could to bring this result about. Let them enjoy for awhile what they help create.

After mindlessly echoing every lie and nonsensical talking point about everything from Iraq to Katerina spewed forth by the DC Media-Political complex for almost 3 years, they now wonder why most Conservative took them at their words and stayed home?

Maybe if these arrogant fools see their taxes go up and up and up, they will stop being as PR stupid as they have been since every day since 2003. Frankly places like NRO may as well drop the "Conservative" out of their marketing. They are pure DC Establishment now.

Frankly, I am serious disinclined at this point to do ANYTHING to help them stop any tax hikes. These rich self important pompous twits did everything they could to achieve this result, let them reap as they have sown. Frankly they should thank God President Bush is not as petty and vindicative and petulant as the lot of them are. IF he were, he would just do a lot of traveling for the next two years and let the Democrats do anything they want. These people would not fight FOR him when he needed them ram the agenda thru an obstructionist Congress headed by the "Gang of 14" after Nov 2004, why should he lift a finger to save any of them now?

Michael, this is the most undercovered reality of this election. Israel will be destroyed by Iran and Syria if they leave their fate to the rats. They are not suicidal and will not allow the 2nd cleansing of Jews to happen while liberals in charge look the other way.

I *notice* every penny that the government gets out of my paycheck.

And then, to have the money handed back to me again in the form of student loans...with interest? WTF?

Sigh. It's supposed to be my money, right?

Except according to the 'Rats, those folks are "rich" and ought to pay their "fair share."

The income tax system does not tax the wealthy; it taxes those who have high income. Some may be wealthy, but many others might just be climbing out of the lower income ranges.

To a lesser extent, the federal financial aid system for students penalizes "high" income. A family of four in Manhattan with $5 million in property and cash on hand but zero income (just living off the accumulated cash) will get Pell grants while a family in Northern Virginia with both parents working, making $150,000 annually, will get slapped with student loans.

The question of the night is: how much of the extra tax money was actually spent on roads here in Northern Virginia?

(I am willing to bet on...zero.)

IMHO, the folks with money already find ways to hang on to their money. The income tax penalizes folks who try to move up the social ladder, and the college financial aid system penalizes kids who attempt to work their way through college or attempt to avoid debt in college.

So this gives the really rich people time to hide their money in tax free shelters.

No I think it's worse than that. The truly rich don't have to work, that's the point! Since most of these taxes are on income, not on wealth, they are totally unscathed...

My #2 son experienced the latter problem. He returned from his tour in Kuwait/Iraq with the USMC Reserves and found a job at In-and-Out Burger. He tried the community college approach, but found it to be little more than a super high school. He took a more ambitious approach. He studied and passed the real estate sales license exam. He then took a position at a real estate office where he was paid $500 per closing. The broker was pocketing the big commissions. My son decided to turn the experience into an "on the job training" opportunity. Soon, he was running the office. Still, the broker pocketed the commissions and never credited him on the paperwork with the sales he was closing. He earned enough to start working on a BS in Business Administration with augmentation from his GI bill and student loans. Because he had an income, the repayment cycle for the student loans started almost immediately.

Fast forward to Nov 2005. He took the CA real estate broker's license and passed the exam. He opened his own real estate office and hired good sales and loan staff. He finished his courses in May 2006 and walked through commencement exercises in July 2006.

He continues to pay the student loans. It will take 5 more decent commissions to retire his student loans. It wasn't easy. It wasn't handed to him on silver platter. It took hard work and discipline. He is now the employer of 26 people with two corporations...at age 23. He's also still a LCPL in the USMC Reserves.

When his hitch in the USMC Reserves ends in July 2007, he intends to apply to law school. The reason for waiting is that he wants to go to better law schools than he can find in San Diego. His reserve obligations are at MCAS Miramar.

Ping for later printout/reference. I need to show this to my boss - a 60-something-year-old woman who was raised on the southside of Chicago and doesn't seem to understand why she should not vote for Dem-mies.

Wow! What a shock! No border security and tax hikes.

Somebody has to pay for all of those ILLEGALS.
