"haven't we had enough days of whining here already"

===

So stop it!

What some of us are doing is trying to get people to start working on a strategy to win in 2008. Continuing to do what caused us to lose is NOT the winning strategy.

Hey, you're guy won,, all you are pushing is more socialists,, which in California in its current state is unfortunately doable as its all about demographics, ..

now you want to take it to the natioanl scene, where it just won't fly if some of us here have anything to say about it,. so stifle it yourself.. you are nothing more than a TWirP supporter.

the MSM and its perpetual liberal lie machine ground the base into the ground, suppressed votes and turn-out , and waalaaa , the dems won.. is that too tough to follow..

amazingly the GUb held his ground but he wasn't re-lected as a conservative much less a republican, his opponent was awful , all he had to be was not too bad.. imo, we all deserve better, not the twaddle you continue to push..

also, I don't think your proposal is so suited to win the day next go around, it is clear that your efforts have never been about supporting conservatism, only social democrats with an R by their name, the rush to socialism continues and you continue to support it, you're up to supporting it , all the while acting under the guise of being pure and holy,, ya got the holey part right. pure of motive? , I doubt it.

Sorry, but blaming voters is ridiculous. It's like blaming no-show fans for a football team's bad performance. The GOP earned this loss, big time, and there was absolutely no indication given that the GOP would have changed their ways had they maintanied control. I voted straight "R" (except for one "L" - I couldn't vote for the horribly corrupt Jeanine Pirro), but I did not do so happily. The GOP has a lot of fence-mending to do, but sadly, the only "R" I've heard admit this is John McCain - hardly encouraging.

And, the only way to do that is figure what the Republicans did wrong. What turned off voters, including many conservatives off, is what needs to be corrected.

Why don't you take your own advice and stop whining that principled conservatives wouldn't hold their nose and vote for a party that abandoned them and start demanding the Republicans get their act together.

I fully agree with this. The question is one of what, exactly, should be done.

THere are those here who have increased, if anything, their shameless promotion of POTUS candidates who are even more liberal than those who lost to the 'Blue Dog Democrats".

Let's not get stuck on stupid there.

Morphing further left is not the key to winning.

What disappointed the voters was a sense of business as usual in DC, and the sense that they had been abandoned by the party.

Illegal immigration, spending, and the perception of lackluster leadership all contributed mightily.

COnfusion over whether "fair and balanced" is on our side (closer than CNN, but not there yet) contributes to image problems fed by the performance of the Republican Majority.

We need candidates with a track record of walking the walk, not just talking the talk on conservative issues.

We need mass media, not just the internet, e-mail, and word of mouth, that can reach the voter who is not involved enough to go looking for information.

Our candidates need to be media-savvy and not provide the opposition with the rope to hang them (Allen's macacca).

Our candidates need an record of accomplishments to stand on when they run, not just vote for me 'cause I'm not them, or the wearying vitriol of endless attack ads. It has to become a question of why we should vote for a candidate instead of just against the opposition. You want the base to show up, give them someone to vote for.

Lynchpin issues remain:

Border security.

The GWOT

The economy and taxes

gun control

abortion

English as the national language

an Energy policy (not just pork) aimed toward becoming more self-sufficient in the future, and one which embraces oil, nuclear, coal, and viable alternatives.

That just names a few, I am sure folks around here can come up with more.

We have a lot of work to do, so let's wrap up the post mortem, and get 'er done!
