Michael Savage gets a lesson in politics 101

Posted on 11/10/2006 3:00:44 PM PST by RussP

I actually liked Michael Savage at one time, but now I am embarrassed for him every time I hear him (which is not often). The guy has become a clueless loon.

To show off his "independence," he refused to endorse Republicans. Fantastic, Michael! Then the day after the election it finally occurred to him that a Democratic Congress is now empowered to work with Bush on his amnesty program for illegal immigrants!

What kind of moron could not figure that out *before* the election?

Thanks a lot, Michael, for sitting on your hands and doing nothing when it counted most to help stop illegal immigration. You're a true patriot, but not a very bright one!

Michael calls Rush Limbaugh a shill for the Republicans, but Rush figured out *before* the election that (1) Bush is not on the ballot, and (2) if the Republicans don't win Congress, the Democrats will. In other words, Rush passed politics 101 a long time ago, but Michael never did.

I happened to be listening yesterday when a caller tried to point this out to him. How did Michael reply? He couldn't argue rationally, so he resorted to his usual 3rd-grade-level name calling and telling the guy to change his underwear. I kid you not.

Ironically, Michael wrote a book calling liberalism a mental illness, but Michael clearly has a mental illness of his own. He has become some kind of deranged, angry clown.

He is not the only one who I think did a very bad job of getting his point across. Face it we had a good thing going , we had the congress and all they did was complain, watch how the demos and their supporters handle this new congress. Not one of them will jump out of line and it will make you think everything is just ducky. All savage did , and I did listen to him a few times was complain about the pres. . Well now he can try to complain about this new congress. The next thing coming is the fairness doctrine, and then regulation of the Internet. The new congress will never put up with what the reps did. Did you see any demo say lets share power. If you think I am wrong keep this post get back to me in a year and watch what happens. See if I change your mind about your thinking or you change mine.

You are making two faulty assumptions regarding Savage. First, that he remembers yesterday. And second, that he thinks about tomorrow.

That's gonna leave a mark...

Where do vanities belong?

Dunno. I've always posted mine in news. Sometimes they get moved to chat, sometimes to the smokey back room, but mostly since they are about 'the news' they stay in news.

Do you and the other Savage bashers really think he had the power to affect the election results? His listenership is only 8 million, well under Rush and Hannities.

Many elections were lost by a few thousand.

Savage is my age, and I can identify with him when he is talking about personal or cultural issues, but as far as politics goes, he is off the reservation.
On the radio, he is such a waste of time :(

Out on his boat, he might be a great guy to hangout with and have a few wines.

Blame the Republicans for their loss. Expanding government, anti-free speech Campaign Finance Reform, expansion of the federal government into education, etc. The Republicans worked hard for defeat.

>Catholics generically distrust any strong anti-immigration sentiment, because the Irish, Italians and Poles all have strong ethnic memories of anti-immigrant discrimination against THEM on account of their religion, and they are not going to sign onto anti-Hispanic immigration politics which are ALSO anti-Catholic. Without the Catholics, there is no conservative majority, and the majority of Catholics are never going to sign off on deporting the Latinos.<

I'm catholic and speak to many catholics who are against illegal immigration. It is breaking the law and goes against our faith. It is the Bishops who support illegals and is only spoken about on their website and archdiocesan papers but not in the churches or pulpit each Sunday. Geez Hannity is a catholic (in name only imo) and he against illegal immigration. Now the church did put out a voting pamphlet that went along church teaching and which favored the republican platform...mainly spoke on the issue of life. I wish I still had my phamplet to be more explicit.

If you see a move to by the House to grant amnesty to the illegals, which I think you will, I think you will see a huge fight in this country against it. When the minutemen started on the border what did President Bush do? He said we don't need vigilantes down there and I recall one time he said we were discriminating against immigrants also.
That pissed alot of people off! Fight a war against terrorism and don't protect the borders? Makes absolutely no sense.

I don't know what is wrong with some of you on this forum other than what Savage says..Kool-Aide drinkers. It wasn't Savage or Catholics that turned the election it was the Republicans. The train left and left alot of you standing in the weeping willows.

Hello we lost the election in some places by squeakers. Some of those so called squeakers could have been influenced to stay home by talk radio. Some people are radio junkies. One more vote is one more vote.

You are an idiot! This is truly amazing to watch. You call yourself a conservative????? You sound like a Liberal, Socialist, or Communist blaming everyone else for all your problems. Yeah its Michael Savages fault for all the Republican problems. It's has NOTHING to do with what the Republicans performance in congress. ROTHFLMAO!

It is people like yourself why the Republicans are in trouble. You trump party loyalty over conservatism. How you might ask? First, you blame others for your own short comings. You sound like European that says all the world problems are because of America. What did the Republicans in on election day was the Republican party itself not Michael Savage.

For you to say that amnesty will now be passed because of Michael Savage, and has nothing to do with the top Republican President George Bush is beyond ridiculous. It is STUPID!!!

Furthermore, the numbers are not even on your side! Rush Limbaugh has a bigger listening audience than Michael Savage. However, you say its Michael's fault for convincing a lot of conservatives that the Republican in congress along with George Bush are not true conservatives. How DARE Michael Savage state an opinion!

Michael Savage has his own view just like Rush. It is Conservatives in our great nation that will decide who they tend to agree with more.

Just for the record I listen to both Rush and Michael. I am not in either corner. I just listen to their points along with other talk show host, TV, newspapers, etc and come to my own conclusion.

The Truth is the Republicans got kicked in the teeth on election day by guess?? The true conservatives in this nation. Not the fake ones that were in congress.

I don't care if he "helps" anyone..that's not his job...,

but if he wants to be a shill for the RAts, then he should be upfront about and stop pretending he gives a damn about this country...because, he doesn't give a damn....

he is just another "educated" NYC Jew that never learned what the Hollocaust was all about...its about killing Jews, Micheal....them a bunch of others...

I guess self-preservation is for other people...but its the great Christian community that protects YOUR people Micheal...IMO of course....

Your "reasoning" shows why you fall hook, line, and sinker for Weiner's schtick. Weiner is now whining that the Dems in the House will pass Bush's amnesty program, but apparently it did not occur to him before the election that that would happen. The House Republicans were *trying* to do something about illegal immigration, but Weiner sat on his hands and refused to support them. Why? So he could claim to be "independent." In other words, his public image is more important to him than the issues he pretends to care about. He's full of crap, and so are you.

Savage is a wanna-be. He does not present any kind of insight into politics. He rants. Rush is educational and enlightening. Savage is just annoying.
