Michael Savage gets a lesson in politics 101

Posted on 11/10/2006 3:00:44 PM PST by RussP

I actually liked Michael Savage at one time, but now I am embarrassed for him every time I hear him (which is not often). The guy has become a clueless loon.

To show off his "independence," he refused to endorse Republicans. Fantastic, Michael! Then the day after the election it finally occurred to him that a Democratic Congress is now empowered to work with Bush on his amnesty program for illegal immigrants!

What kind of moron could not figure that out *before* the election?

Thanks a lot, Michael, for sitting on your hands and doing nothing when it counted most to help stop illegal immigration. You're a true patriot, but not a very bright one!

Michael calls Rush Limbaugh a shill for the Republicans, but Rush figured out *before* the election that (1) Bush is not on the ballot, and (2) if the Republicans don't win Congress, the Democrats will. In other words, Rush passed politics 101 a long time ago, but Michael never did.

I happened to be listening yesterday when a caller tried to point this out to him. How did Michael reply? He couldn't argue rationally, so he resorted to his usual 3rd-grade-level name calling and telling the guy to change his underwear. I kid you not.

Ironically, Michael wrote a book calling liberalism a mental illness, but Michael clearly has a mental illness of his own. He has become some kind of deranged, angry clown.

Do you rellay believe that Savage had the power and influence to affect the election?

Nope, but it's fun to play along so that eventually one of your own says he's basically irrelevant to the topic. LOL

He also exhibits classic bipolar symptoms....that or he is a drunk...the mood swings and the mania are really distracting... he's not entertaining, unless you find entertainment in some derelict muttering, ranting and raving in a bus terminal somewhere...

"You are making two faulty assumptions regarding Savage. First, that he remembers yesterday. And second, that he thinks about tomorrow."

ROFLMAO

"Well he thinks he has with his sizeable contribution to Gov. Moonbeam, jerry brown."

I'm not asking what Savage thinks. I already know that.

Do you and the other Savage bashers really think he had the power to affect the election results? His listenership is only 8 million, well under Rush and Hannities.

I do listen to Savage and yes he did support and endorse the Republicans because #1 he stated if the demoncrats got in, one of the first things they will try to do is, pull us out of Iraq. He supports the war and the troops where he disagrees is how Bush is fighting the war as a police action and second allowing the prosecution of our troops finding them guilty, before even going to trial. #2 Michael Savage also said weeks prior to the election that if the demoncrats did get in they would vote for amnesty, which he is against.

Yesterday referring to the caller you meantioned..I listened to that caller. The caller said that Muslims living in the US have a right to free speech by preaching and spreading hate in their mosques, denouncing America and calling for death to America and Americans. Michael's reply to him was "Do you agree with someone yelling out fire in a crowded theatre?" The caller thought for a sec, and said, "well humm, well, no." Then Michael asked him (not exact words) how can you agree with those calling for destruction of your country and citizens. The caller would not back down, he totally supported moslems in the US calling for the annihilation of America as free speech. Michael Savage was trying to show this caller that this type of speech is not free speech and which I also agree with. He gave up, called the guy an idiot I think and hung up..probably did tell the guy to change his underwear..who cares.

Savage does support the Republican Party, he did not want to see the Demoncrats get in and calls them far worst names then some of the idiot callers he gets. Where Savage disagrees with the Republican Party is on Language, Culture and Borders. And that is why the Republicans lost IMO. Me like others were tired of the Kool-Aide Republican drinkers like Savage calls them. I couldn't stand it when Clinton could do no wrong with the demoncrats and I and many others couldn't stand it when Bush couldn't do no wrong either. If you disagreed with Bush you were a labeled as a independent, libertarian, etc.
Something wrong to me when people won't tolerate you to think for yourself or disagree.

I was in a book store recently and I noticed a display of Savage's books. Curious, I looked through one of them. I was amazed to find the font size to be HUGE! And the narrative appeared to be double spaced. Throw in the fact that the book was not many pages long, and I concluded that the book could have been written in just a few days. Needless to say, I will never buy one of his books.

I'm with you. (See #143) To base election decisions on what you hear on The Savage Nation is to give it way too much credit for seriousness and way too little respect for its humor. To say it influenced the election, well from Savage's perspective - "Priceless."

I don't know. I know a few years ago, feeling frustrated about the way things were going, I listened to Hannity for awhile and got tired of everybody being called a great American. Then I listened to Rush Limbaugh and although he complained a lot, I never felt he was getting to the core of the problem.

Then I started listening to Savage. My 1st problem was his name. The next was his out-of-control rants. But somehow, in between times, I felt like he was the only guy I could find in the media (San Jose, CA) who was addressing the stuff that I cared about - mainly the ongoing deterioration of our country.

He's way off on many economic issues (tends towards socialism I think) and doesn't seem to grasp the need for a nonpolitical judiciary. He's also messed up about the greatness of Reagan. But on a lot of stuff he's right on and although I hate the abusive way he treats some people and his rants, I can't find anyone else in my area who really expresses the frustration & anger I do about the leader-lessness in our country.
