First let me say that if you like myselfe voted for a Republican-even if if made you want to puke--this is not aimed at you!!This is for all the weak willed so called Republicans who stayed home or voted for the rats. If you did not vote or voted for the rats, then please DO NOT start posting when your life gets more complicated by a democrat congress. If you bought a new home within the last 12 years especially an expensive one over $200,000 and could barly make the property tax payments just wait till the bush cuts are repealed when your take home pay goes down because your tax bracket went back up. Guess you will really be crying when you realize that Bankrupcy is not an option.--you voted for this! When the military Draft is reimposed--remember--Rangle has a bill ready for that and you voted your concience! When they start procedings to impeach the president and vice-president and Pelosi can assend to the oval office--remember you voted for this!!! When the price of gasoline skyrockets because all hopes of becoming energy independent has evaporated---you voted for this! When inflasion runs amok and the stock market crashes and your 401K collapses---you voted for this!! I am not being an alarmist all you have to do is search for these items and read what all the rats were screaming they wanted to do. It is NOT true that the rats did not have a plan they DO you were just to stupid to realize it. My grandmother always said "be careful not to throw the baby out with the bath water!"Well people we just screwed the pooch and the baby is no where to be found. Now the only chance to evict the rats will be in 4years for the house and 12 years for the senete. So lock up you wallets learn spanish be prepared to be moved from the middle class to the poor house but dont post about how unfair things have become--remember YOU VOTED FOR THIS!!!!

Dude, house elections are every 2 years, and even though US senate terms are 6 years, there are always senate elections at the 2 year cycle. Additionally, in 2 years we have a presidential election. If our party leadership gets hit on the head and comes to it's senses, and fields a solid prez candidate, we should do well in '08.

It wasn't the Republican voters who deep-sixed the GOP in the elections, it was the independents who defected to the Democrats in large numbers.

I tend to agree. Just because there was a tiny "punish the GOP" contingent on FR, doesn't mean that the conservative base didn't show up.

I don't know any conservatives who stayed home.

If GOP numbers were down, it might just as well be anti-war RINO's who stayed home or voted Dem.

In other words, there are a lot of recriminations being hurled at "unappeasable, single-issue, conservative purists" ... but I haven't seen a lot of evidence that they are to blame.

"Protest comes in many forms."

___________________________________________________________

Glad you protested so that my children are going to be in greater danger from the Islamo Nazis; Glad you protested so that more babies can be sucked live out or their mother's womb; Glad you protested so I can work for "free" until August to pay my taxes. Need I say more. You "protest" voters did nothing but lift the restraints on evil. Nobody gets the perfect candidate. You often have to chose the imperfect choice to keeper the greater evil at bay. Maybe you will learn at the end of an Islamo sword...

Dems will try very hard to get along and show how they are so good for the country. Get ready to hear how great the economy's is, how unemployment is record low, the patriot act will survive and they'll be telling us they've kept us safe from terror.
Amazing how their perpective will change practically over night just so they can take all the credit for 08.
And, of course, the msm will play their games to make sure that is the message.
This loss was huge!!

My fear is that, with Democrats in power, abortion on demand will be legal, our border with Mexico will be unprotected, and government spending will run out of control.

In other words, nothing will change!

$200,000 is expensive for a house?

In most of the country it was, ten years ago. You can expect the tax free gain of $250,000 per individual to go away quickly; the RATS targeted that the day it was passed.

After all, that only benefits the "rich"! That half million untaxed gives you assets that they don't want you to have. Well off folks don't NEED Democrats! They'll try to make you need them.

You scenario is not impossible. Keeping my fingers crossed. The first message I would want President Bush to send out is that he will not allow any more of his people to be threatened with criminal charges over imaginary crimes. To send that message, he should immediately pardon Scooter Libby.

Sorry... It's a California thing. $200,000 here buys you a crappy condo in a really scary part of town.

"The government will be mostly paralyzed,.. "

IMHO you are assuming two facts not in evidence.

1. The Prez has yet to wield the veto pen and he is sucking up to the treasonous weasels.

2. The pubbies in congress will suddenly grow a spine. My ninety four year old blind mother calls them wimps and I think she is way too easy on them.

You're right in that we barely lost many (I wouldn't say most) races. Think how much better we would have fared had the GOP not conducted such a poor campaign. We need a clean sweep at the top starting with Ken Mehlman.

It's time to turn control of the GOP in the direction of conservatives ... away from the Bushies.

There also were "Reagan Democrats" that voted GOP from 1980 through 2004. They no longer felt they belonged ... hence the loss of both houses in 2006.

Everyone that has their panties in a wad because Bush is being congenial to the Dims, need to settle down. Did you really think he was going to come out and "bi@#h slap" Nancy? Sorry, guys! It doesn't work that way. Take a breather and let these Dims hang themselves with their own rope.

Meanwhile, we need to regroup and work to elect some TRUE Reagan conservatives in '08.

Isn't that like saying 'if you didn't serve in the military you can't lead them'?

This is part of the problem, instead of finding the best qualified candidate, the candidates are chosen based on prior political experience and other criteria, such as military service, old boys/girls network, etc.

From personal knowledge of elected officials at the local, state and national, we are not getting the best candidates or elected officials. The best people generally don't want to go through the hassle of elected office.

My analysis of politicians is that they are:
1 - Self serving or special interest individuals
2 - Ego driven, often not too bright and don't see the big picture
3 - Party loyalists, that will vote based on how their mentors or party direct
4 - A few good politicians that work for the best interests of the people based on principles

This is a general assessment, and many have some or all of these traits, but in general elected politicians are probably less competent than the voters that they represent.

In summary, they pick on items like did the person serve in the military instead of their overall competence or character.
