Outcome Uncertain in 8 House Races
Breitbart.com ^ | November 10, 2006 | Philip Elliot

Posted on 11/10/2006 1:08:13 PM PST by madison10

Eight House races remain without winners after Tuesday's election, with Republican incumbents in tight contests to keep their seats and state officials not rushing to end the dispute.

Rep. Deborah Pryce, a member of the House Republican leadership, is ahead in her central Ohio race by 3,536 votes. In the Columbus, Ohio- area, elections officials are delaying the count of more than 9,000 provisional ballots by one day so it doesn't disrupt the much-vaulted Ohio State-Michigan football game on Nov. 18.

Elections officials in that district will start counting Nov. 19.

Ohio Republican Rep. Jean Schmidt, who called Democratic Rep. John Murtha a coward, is ahead of her challenger by 2,862 votes. Rep. Barbara Cubin, who threatened to slap her wheelchair-bound Libertarian opponent after a debate, is ahead by fewer than a thousand votes in her Wyoming contest.

Of the eight uncalled races, only one _ Joe Courtney's challenge to Republican Rep. Rob Simmons in Connecticut _ gives a Democratic challenger the lead. In that race, Courtney is ahead by a scant 166 votes. Almost a quarter of a million votes were cast.

A Thursday recount in Hebron, Conn., gave Simmons one more vote. Recounts were scheduled in 74 other towns through the weekend.

In Florida, a recount is set to begin Wednesday in Rep. Katherine Harris' former district. Republican Vern Buchanan has a 373-vote lead and has declared victory over Democrat Christine Jennings. The Associated Press has declared Buchanan the winner.

In Georgia, first-term Democratic Rep. John Barrow, facing a rematch against former Republican Rep. Max Burns, leads by fewer than 600 votes.

In Washington state, the count in a suburban Seattle district was delayed by heavy flooding, leaving incumbent Republican Rep. Dave Reichert ahead of challenger Darcy Burner three days after voting ended.

Other races that remain undecided include North Carolina Rep. Robin Hayes' campaign against Larry Kissell, separated by 449 votes; and New Mexico Rep. Heather Wilson's race, where Democrat Patricia Madrid trails by about 1,600 votes.

You seem to be buying too much of what the Demmedia is selling.

Why do Americans only know about scandals of Republicans? Because Demmedia is complicit in hiding Dem scandals and beating the drum over Republican bad behavior.

Do you think Tom DeLay was justly hounded from his seat?
Do you think Mark Foley would have become the poster child of icky gayness if he were a Democrat?
Do you think there is any reason why Dems reelected a former Klansmen in West Virginia, while they painted as racist the candidate from Virginia for calling someone a word no American had ever heard before he said it?
Do you think the media would have stayed silent over the behavior of William Jefferson, La if he had been a Republican?

"I don't know Breitbart.com but the person who typed in this article is too lazy to check facts or a liar."

Surely by now you understand the Drive-by Democrat-Media MO:
- For any newsworthy Republican figure, they have a negative talking point. It may be irrelevent to the article, but that's not the point .. the point the MSM is trying to get across is to make you dislike Republicans. Facts dont matter - look at the Plame affair.

If the shoe were on the other foot, it would look like:

Jim Webb, who as a fiction writer wrote descriptions of pedophilia, barely beat George Allen in a very close election.
Bob Menendez, accused of corruption and kickbcks as Hudson country political 'boss', defeated Tom Kean Jr, son of the popular and respected former Governor Tom Kean.
Harold Ford, who admitted attending a Playboy party at the suprebowl saying "I like girls and football", lost to Corker.
Claire McCaskill, who in a debate claimed that Bush was manipulating gas prices, won in a close race against jim Talent.

CORRECT!!!

231 is pretty bad actually. That is as big a margin as we had last Congress.

Question: what are the top 20 most likely "RETAKE" seats?

the provisional ballot mechanism is the main vehicle for Dem election fraud. will we fight to save these seats, to challenge those ballots if they flip these elections to the Dems? from what I have seen coming out of the party since tuesday, I'm not optimistic.

every seat counts. if we can make some kind of alliances with the blue dog Dems - on some issues, we might have a working majority.

"Rep. Barbara Cubin, who threatened to slap her wheelchair-bound Libertarian opponent after a debate, i"

A) I think the Libertarians need some slapping around.
She is a fine woman, good Congresswoman, and good conservative. Another Libertarian handed another race to the Democrats - almost:

B) Drive-by media bias ... see #83. This is an MO of a liberal journalist: Inject anti-conservative poison that is irrelevent to the story.

and if there are any other house seats that the Rs lost by margins decided by the provisional ballots, I'd fight those as well.

at some point, if we don't fight the fraud in these provisional ballots (I am convinced this cost us Allen's senate seat), then we go into every national election with a built in Dem advantage everywhere.

RE: email

Good idea to let 'em know. When I went there (Breitbart.com) I recognized it from drudgereport links and discovered that the story appeared to be AP. Surprise.

So I instead found an email address at the AP site and addressed it to one Mr. Curley who was listed as the CEO of AP.

RE: The MSM: Facts don't matter

I agree. I expressed by opinion of MSM employees in the last sentence of my reply above. I came to that conclusion after five decades -- starting with how they treated Senator McCarthy, the House Committee on UnAmerican Activities, et al. Then came the '60s. . . .

It was useless to complain. The few letters I did send to the TV networks always got the standard "We're professionals and you're not" reply.

But alas, I will just have accept that the MSM is crashing -- I may not make it long enough to see Walter "N.Viet Nam Communists' Most Trusted Man in America" Cronkite hanged for treason.

We'll all but cartainly win all of these with the exception of Simmons. The numbers would have be insane for the D's for them to win any one of these, and I mean even more nuts then they already were.

JD should never have been in this trouble - what happened? And unless Simmons prevails, Chris Shays will be the only GOP rep from New England. Although these guys from New England were mostly liberal, this is still terrible - we need reps from all over the USA. I think two of our guys lost in New Hampshire. And we have not had anybody from Massachusetts in many years. Very, very bad.
