They might indeed make a successful business out of it, but its infinitely far from space development and will remain so until the 1967 Treaty is withdrawn from.

This business will work great until the first fatality.

Why?

It hasn't shut down the airlines.

They can run flights near my town!

We proudly offer the Greater Green River Intergalactic Spaceport (Wyoming)

(Yes, that's its official name)

"That's the big step, to break free of the surly bonds of Earth."

Speak for yourself, bub. I'm in no hurry to ruin the next frontier and I'd rather salvage earth, anyway.

Good luck to them. I hope Branson and Rutan make an incredible, unbelievable amount of money.

Airline flight is a neccesity in today's world.

Joyriding into space is not.

It may start out as joy riding, but I'm willing to bet it will develop into more of a 'necessity' than you may think.

It wouldn't be surprising if they expanded their destinations to other countries once the technology is better developed.

After all, the first 'airliners' weren't a necessity either.

People orginally booked them for the pleasure of flying or 'joy riding', just like they are with this.

Hey, if and when New York to Tokoyo in 30 minutes becomes reasonably affordable, sign me up.

Anyone that has taken a close look at SpaceShip One knows just how marginal a vehicle it was. Even with improvements I doubt SpaceShip Two will be much more advanced.

As far as I recall, SpaceShip One entered regimes of uncontrolled flight during every ascent-descent, especially in the roll axis.

My doubts about this program do not mean that I am opposed to civilian sub-orbital flights per se, or civilian space exploration either.
