I sure hope that the House and Senate don't take their eye off the ball of Islamic terrorism--getting caught up in all this tit for tat crap puts us in danger--I live too dangerously close to Ground Zero to want to have to worry about a distracted President and a shrill media who loves to create circuses.

The D Congress investigated, interrogated, and dug into the Reagan and Bush administrations over Iran-Contra. They were distracted and weakened, and nothing came of it.

The R Congress impeached Clinton. He emerged with a higher approval rating than he had going in.

An impeachment would be dumb. There isn't enough to sustain a conviction, and it would be a waste of time. Better to chip away a little at a time, to be a constant gadfly instead of a one-time charging tiger.

Geee, and I was looking forward to an impeachment circus for the next two years. Damn it.

It would of course fail, which would have been good in the long run for the GOP and America.
Now all we have to look forward to is endless enquiries.

I get the distinct sensation that he said it with his fingers crossed behind his back.

There are two beasts tugging at Conyers' soul, one is the desire for power, the other is his moonbattery. The former has won for the moment, the latter will re-emerge.

Regards, Ivan

"Conyers says "No Impeachement" planned"

Don't wanna rain on the "Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy" parade of the last two days.

He'll wait until after the new congress is in session and then find a reason to rescind this "magnanimous" offer...

Question;

How can you tell if a demo-rat is lying?

Answer;

their lips are moving!

But really folks I believe that they have had plans laid for at least 5 years to get him when they had a chance. Well in January they will have their chance to get him that is if they don't try to have him commit arkinside.

I'm glad Conyers said this.

It shows that Pelosi understands that she is the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States of America, at war, and that she doesn't just play one on TV.

It shows that she doesn't intend to let the Democrats lapse into insanity, and it shows that a fanatic liberal old-liner like Conyers is on board with her.

Will they investigate? Sure.
Will they criticize? Of course.
But impeach, like we did to Clinton?
Not on the cards.

Good.
Good, good, GOOD!

If they stay the course on being responsible (and this was certainly a responsible thing to say), then the Republic will come through this ok.

We didn't care about a "distracted" president when it was Clinton. But they just want to impeach Bush for payback. Problem is Bush didn't break the law.

If Nancy Pelosi is insightful, she will realize that America is still center-right. The evidence is (1) that the Dems won the Congress with moderate or conservative Democrats and (2) the passage of the many anti-gay amendments.

If they are smart, they won't do anything divisive or left-wing for the next two years, and risk losing the White House.

I think nothing bad will happen for next two years.

The real problem for GOP is that if Dems re-paint themselves as conservative patriots, and regain control in 08, including the White House, THEN the masks will come off and socialism will come raining down.

We HAVE to stay on the offensive and take the White House in 08.

Which coming from this bunch, means they'll start impeachment immediately.

I sense in your post the feeling that the Clinton Impeachment Process may have in part lead to 9-11.

I personally believe that is exactly what happened and that history very likely will repeat itself.

...there will be no impeachment of President Bush.

I guess Conyers just figured out there's been no impeachable offense committed.

In other news, pigs fly, the Bills just won the super bowl and the Cubs won the world series..
This is just a ruse... they'll start hearings right after the SOTU speech under the guise of "fact finding" in order to discredit him. He'll have his hand on a bible more than a priest does for the next two years..

Conyers says no impeachment planned.

Translation: Conyers said that no impeachment proceedings against President Bush will be planned AS LONG AS he doesn't use his veto power and stays on the road of bi-partisanship ( ie. gives us what we want.).

I don't buy it for a minute. As soon as they see an opportunity, they'll jump on it. Perhaps they'll start with Cheyney though just to be clever.

Yeah, right.

We know their plan. First they'll squeeze Bush for every liberal agenda they can so they can claim it was a "bi-partisan" move and Bush will go along with it because he still doesn't get they'll never love him. Once they've squeezed him hard as they can, they hold hearings and drag all Republicans through the mud hoping to so destroy them they'll be too weak to present a challenge in '08. Maybe they won't officially "impeach" not wanting that as an issue like the Reps in '98, though I wouldn't count on that since their nuts are demanding it. They might do it then try to label it something else. Not like they haven't done that before.

Either way unless the Reps get their act together, get conservative and develop spines they WILL lose in '08. These guys aen't your friends. They want to destroy you.

So either:

A-the Dems lied to get elected and never planned to impeach W

or

B-they're lying now.
