Today is Day 2 of the 2008 Presidential campaign--they don't want to jeopardize their chances of recapturing the White House.
To: foreshadowed at waco
The reason is that impeachment would make their situation worse. Bush plays their game and never goes on offense, Cheney would chew them up and spit them out.

Bush has apparently offered them enough blood to satisfy their appetites, for now.

Folks, let us remember: the are Democrats. Also known as LIARS, the party of Clinton, tax-raisers, lovers of infanticide, pacifist surrenderers.
In other words, John Conyers' word means nothing.

I don't believe him for a second. They will do investigations. Then they can say that they're acting on "new information" when they impeach.DINGDINGDINGDING!!!!!
You win the prize.

There won't be any impeachment proceedings. They don't have anywhere near enough votes for it in the Senate. The political blowback on the Dems would far outweigh any short-term effect it would have on Bush's popularity.
To: CarolinaGOP
If they do impeach, they will be stuck with President Cheney! I don't think they like that option too much.Precisely the reason I was against impeaching Clinton. Who wanted President Gore?

Politically speaking, impeachment would be great for the GOP. It would help turn public opinion against the Dems.
It would guarantee that Republicans retake the House, at the very least, in 2008.
