Charlie Rangel opens his mouth...and mocks the South: (hat tip: reader CRB)
Its not just committees our influence within the House Democratic caucus will grow enormously, Mr. Rangel said in an interview.
To that end, he sketched out an expansive federal agenda: Teaming up with Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg on gun control, passing new tax incentives for urban job programs, and redirecting federal money to New York in return for the outsize tax collections that the federal government makes here.
Mississippi gets more than their fair share back in federal money, but who the hell wants to live in Mississippi? Mr. Rangel said.
Who wants to live east of the Rockie Mountains? (Yes, I'm baiting you guys, but the point stands.)
me
STFU Rangel!
In fact .. there is already a response posted at Michelle's site

Update. Rep. Chip Pickering, who represents the 3rd District of Mississippi, replies. An excerpt:
From the Coast to the Delta to the Pinebelt to the Hills and across Mississippi, there is beauty in every city, charity in every heart, love in every church, and majesty in every countryside. When I travel this state I see it in the resolute handshakes, the hospitable smiles, and the sincere prayers of our neighbors: we love Mississippi and we are proud and happy to live here, Pickering said.
Pickering concluded, Last year, Hurricane Katrina devastated the Mississippi Coast. We have been working hard not only to rebuild our own homes and communities, but also to repair and protect the network of refineries, pipelines, and transmission grids that supply energy, gas, and oil to the rest of the country, including New York. If Mr. Rangel believes those efforts required more than our fair share of federal money, he is welcome to send that energy back to our state and find an alternative supply...
Well I'm from Alabama now living in Miss. Both great states :)
"Can we say "Who the hell wants to live in Harlem"?"
Well we can, for now. If America keeps electing lefty moonbats, we might not be permitted to;)
Hmmmm? People from Louisiana?
Make no mistake about what Rangel is saying: He's basically saying the gloves are off. And that Red States either have to play ball with their policies or figure out a way to support themselves, which would mean giant tax increases at the state level, i.e. You want guns? Fine! But you best find some other way to pay for your education or that nice highway you also wanted.
LOL.
I know..no cows..;-)
I'm not putting you down at all. I know enough people must love the place since it has a huge population, but people love Mississippi too. See how offended you feel by me, someone unfamous, saying this to you, well think of the people of Mississippi being told this by a so called Stateman.
I have heard that dry years are the best for fall leaves and that it is the temperature that matters most. Don't know if that is true.
Just fanciful thinking. .......
How about America's finest stationed at Keesler Air Force Base, or the thousands being trained at Camp Shelby to go to Iraq.
Hey, that picture looks like Spongebob Squarepants!!!
I'm offended by Rangel's remarks as well, mostly because I see the writing on the wall for places like Miss. and Alabama, etc.
CNN???
Yea that ain't ever gonna happen
Email it to the talk radio shows and Drudge Report. The MSM will squash this kind of news, but we can circumvent them. And we need to constantly expose this crap every time we hear of it.
Yeah, I'm sorry. People never hear about the beautiful winter weather we have in Texas either, don't tell them, we are bursting at the seams in Houston, as it is.
What writing on the wall?
