Charlie Rangel: "Who the hell wants to live in Mississippi?" (..Said the Man From Harlem!!)
http://michellemalkin.com/archives/006337.htm ^

Posted on 11/09/2006 12:43:12 PM PST by WBL 1952

Charlie Rangel opens his mouth...and mocks the South: (hat tip: reader CRB)

“It’s not just committees — our influence within the House Democratic caucus will grow enormously,” Mr. Rangel said in an interview.

To that end, he sketched out an expansive federal agenda: Teaming up with Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg on gun control, passing new tax incentives for urban job programs, and redirecting federal money to New York in return for the outsize tax collections that the federal government makes here.

“Mississippi gets more than their fair share back in federal money, but who the hell wants to live in Mississippi?” Mr. Rangel said.

.....redirecting federal money to New York in return for the outsize tax collections that the federal government makes here.

I don't think New York needs more federal tax dollars. Ever stayed in a hotel in NYC? There is local hotel tax, NY state tax, even a fee for the Javits Center (convention center) regardless of whether or not your trip has anything to do with it. New York is swimming in tax dollars. Chollie's letting his greed - for money and power - show early.

Not many people drive through Harlem.

I understand it used to be the American equivalent of the Gaza Strip, before Giuliani.

Please... when is the last time you were up there? You can't touch a brownstone for under $1.5 mil and two bedrooms are going for upwards of a million. The place is booming.

To me it's home. And there's no reason to assume I love my home any less than others love there hometowns.

The residents in the area of slick willie's office were not happy that he was moving there. They did NOT want the SS in the neighborhood. LOL....cuts into their drug dealing, etc.

Man I wish this stuff would get out to the public.

I don't know if I hate the media more because they lie about US, or because they cover up for THEM.

Wouldn't this be a great NYTimes headline??

Charlie, most of the people I know left New York City a long time ago. The rest wish they could get out.
