Within a generation there will never be another Republican administration.

How about... there will never be another Reagan Adminstration. Sadly but so true.

I believe you are right. Our man for 2008 is not one of the ones that are in the pack now. He needs charisma to get the message out and the ones in the pack now don't seem to have the conservative values and charisma that are needed. He is out there we need to find him. We need to spend less time talking and more time working for true conservatives

"In the interest of getting along, I'm going to impeach myself".

ROFL

No. It will be up to your heroes, the Minutemen to take on the Democrats -- to show everyone how you've stopped time, and instead of using a veto pen, you used a fence.

You are so MSMish.

President Bush has specifically said, over and over, he does not support an AMNESTY plan.

But you don't care -- you never have.

You are the BOT -- so self-aborbed in your single-issue, you are cherishing pinning what the Dems will do to the Bush Admin on Bush Admin -- and you helped make it so.

Your words are so full of "cajonish" false bravado; and the sneering of a bully.

I'm not abandoning the President, certainly not in terms of our troops. But ~politically~ it is increasingly hard to stand with him.

You're not the only one ;-)

Well said.

It is time to settle down, and keep our cool instead of devolving into bickering, infighting, and a blame game. We lost this battle, but there is a war still going on FRiends. So lock and load my FRiends, and keep your eyes on the prize. Its going to be a rough, bumpy ride.

Its time for conservatives to come together and work on an effective strategy for the next election. I believe we can do it, because we've achieved the impossible before. I for one, am looking at the opportunities presented to us with this situation. A lot of the new crop of democrats ran on a conservative to moderate platform. We can take advantage of this and hold their feet to the fire in their regions so that the extreme left wing does not get away with everything.

We have a lot of talented and active Freepers on this forum. I think we can gum up the rats, and also work for success in the next election.

But recognizing that independents will be the key to future elections and keeping our own skirts clean will bring the sucess.

The indies are what has made a mockery of FreeRepublic, IMHO. How good a job are each of us doing keeping them in their own corners? But yet demanding the Repubs in congress do same to the Dems?

There are some gifted minds who can clearly critique the Bush Admin in ways that do no foul. Many posters in FR are not of that caliber, even positing that their intentions are honorable.

It was sound advice in 1964 after the Goldwater debacle and it's sound advice today.

Disagree with one another on policy? sure. Argue passionately, but about issues? sure. But, attack other Republicans personally? No. Not ever. No matter how angry you are. It just helps our political opponents and, more importantly, America's enemies.

Bears repeating.

Ewwww...she thinks she's cute. Stop smiling at her, Mr. President! Are you nuts? I want him to lay on the charm until she's turned into a fluttery school girl who can't remember a thing she'd intended to do to him.

Exactly!

That is what Reagan would do.

If your side of the "aisle" were even remotely good at doing your criticisms, it might be worth the bother of engaging.

Helloooo??? Your post exhibits you have not a clue about macroeconomics. Gee, I know lots of people who've actually taken econ courses, who understand macroeconomics, and who went on to become hairstylists in the "free markets".

Putting theoretical advantages of totally free trade ahead of national security is foolish, and that message doesn't resonate with common people, anyway.

You crib that from Pat Buchanan?

The single-issue voter left the GOP. Their pet issue wasn't addressed to their satisfaction, and so they went public with their laments. This only works productively in a two-prong squeeze play. How it played out, election wise, was squeezing the President and Admin -- not the opposition.

Very astute observation.

We lost a number of close races that we can win in 08 if we stay focused and united.

jpsb: Your sneering sarcasm belongs elsewhere. So does your consistent trashing of the President as you pretend to be "really caring" about this country and only voicing your little opinions and thoughts.

Oh, innocent you.

Yeah, we do have a lot of excellent brains here; and a lot of sneering trolls dragging productive discussion into the gutter, into Bush-bashing, and doing their "anonymous" buddy banging via "yeah, me too". We want Republicans to fight against this in Congress? How about here, at FR?

Yeah we can -- and if we can keep the RINO's out of FR, our discussions, and our coalitions and PACS - Republicans in Congress can do it to. From the little acorn, the mighty Oak. From the local, to the top.

We gotta be able to do this here if we want it done up East.

As it is bound on earth so is it bound in Heaven.
