Make the new Democrat congress go on record by voting for it so when the recently elected Democrats from Republican districts (like Lampson) run in 08 they can't claim to have been tough on immigration.

Lampson might as well vote for it. He is nothing more than a two year rental for the democrats, that seat is a sure republican pick-up in 2008 when a republican not named Tom DeLay is on the ballot (and no write-ins.)

I'd like to find a list of all the dems newly elected who ran on opposing any form of amnesty. John Tester (Montana) ran on it, so he'll have to negate a McCain vote for re-election chances. Dorgan, although not newly elected, is also a dem who also opposes amnesty (as does Byrd).

If anyone else on FR knows of some anti-amnesty winners, please list them. We just may have a fighting chance of defeating GWB's dangerously misguided love affair with criminals. Of course, Pence is running for minority leader, and he favors an amnesty-in-disguise plan. We must be vigilant!

Regards . . . Penny
