A senior advisor to George Allen's Senate campaign said Allen would wait until after the vote is official later this month to decide whether to seek a recount.
Ed Gillespie said Jim Webb was leading Allen by about 7,000 votes this morning, or about .3 percent of the total votes cast. He said that could change during the official canvas that is starting today in localities around the state. He said it is likely some vote totals will change as mistakes in tabulating totals are discovered.
"No one is more interested in the outcome of this race in Virginia than are members of the Allen campaign," Gillespie said during a news conference outside Republican headquarters in Richmond.
The canvas could take the rest of the week. The results won't be officials until they are certified on Nov. 27......

Why is the election not called -- is it because of the voter discrepancy reported at one location? Is it because some ballots are missing?
Not looking good. Allen ran a really miserable campaign.
I think the FBI is investigating some kind of voter fraud.
Good question.
According to CNN lots of votes from Fairfax City have not been counted.
NO way should Allen buckle and give up. You know that the RATS will stop at NOTHING to pull this one out. Let them make the first move and then pounce!
OK. Thanks.
He'll run again in '08 when Warner reires, and hopefully conduct a better campaign.

Is this good or bad. Also, are there outstanding ballots to be counted yet (military, absentee, etc.)?
Allen and his stupid macaca butt are done. Unless there are thousands of miltary absentee ballots in his favor, there is nothing left for him.
I'm not sure Allen can win again in VA.
Maybe I'm wrong. Payback voters might be motivated after the Webb thing.
Who knows?
There are indeed thousands of absentee ballots left to count, most of them from the military.
But will Allen win enough of them? Webb's only selling point is he was a tough military guy.
I doubt Allen will ever run for public office again. When the going got tough he f'd up royally.
Didn't he have Dick Wadhams as a campaign manger. He was the genious who ran the Allard campaign in '02 and Thune campaign in '04.

I think its a good decision.
Oh man that doesn't look too good.
Regarding military absentee ballots, are you saying they are not counted with the other votes in the home towns from which the military person hails? I read somewhere that they have to arrive by election day. But, then are the counted after every one else's ballots are counted?
