We lost this election because the people we elected behaved like gutless politicos rather than like leaders.

Republicans lost this election because they threw away the chance to really lead America in a better direction than it is headed. They lost this election because they lacked the courage of conviction, and so lost the confidence of the voters. They lost this election by completely ignoring their conservative base. They lost this election by trying to please everyone, and by falling for the utter fallacy of political correctness. Did they honestly think conservatives would vote for them just because they were republicans, or that we aren't sick and tired of electing do-nothing politicians? For Christ's sake, THE DEMOCRATS DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A REAL PLATFORM ON WHICH THEY WERE RUNNING!!!!!!!

Iraq? Their policy was VICTORY... but you never would have known it because they allowed the left to frame the debate, and allowed the media to provide the picture. Spending? Just because revenue is up and the deficit down (which you never would have known if you were Joe Sixpack) doesn't give you a license to spend like a bunch of drunken sailors. WOT? Again, the media and the left were allowed to frame the debate. Corruption? There are PLENTY of instances of corrupt democrats... which the republicants never put pressure on, and never meted out punishment for.

Again... when you lack the courage of conviction, the public will lose confidence in you. Ditto personal attacks. The conservatives were hand-wringers whenever anyone attacked them, and ran away from EVERY confrontation with the media or democrats. Did they think that was inspiring to voters?

Republicans ignored their base... on spending, government growth, social security, campaign finance, immigration, and a host of other issues. By disenfranchising their base, they caused a great many people (who otherwise would have voted conservative) to stay home or vote independent.

Given when liberalism stands for, elections are now more about saving our nation than about securing political power. At least, that's how the public sees them. In focusing more on their jobs than on The United States of America, they lost the House. In losing the House, they weakened this country and darkened our chances for security and prosperity in the future. I hope they learned something from trying so hard to stay employed.

Conservatism

First, we need to be National Defense Conservatives. Second, Economic, small government Conservatives. Third, I'm for Liberty Conservatives within the constructs of some Social Mores and Social Conservatism. Abortion is not my number one issue; nor is the stem cell issue. I just think those are issues which don't have to be addressed by the Federal Government right now. Embryonic stem cell research doesn't work as well as other potential cures. Abortion that becomes infanticide reduces our overall goal of Liberty. I don't think we have to be Carrie Nations about these issues, but I think we can still have our priorities that respect others in the movement who may have different priorities.

What a shame many of the Best and Brightest in our military will probably not reup because of the results of this election. Sad that so many people in this country were too lazy to bother to question, or do a little searching for the TRUTH beyond what the MSM/DBM spoon-feeds them... :-(

That's the crux of the matter right there.

It is crazy.

I think talk show hosts are hesitant to say the public is ignorant and uninformed.

And that the MSM are keeping them that way.
_______________

Twenty out of the last 26 years(since 1980) the Republicans have held the whitehouse, and 12 out of those 26 years they've held both houses.
The media and Hollywood do not really have that big of an effect on elections, or else you would never see a conservative elected to office.

>>>Yep...NO MORE RINOs! They move to the BACK of the bus.

Agree.

The kool-aid drinking RINOs wouldn't listen to the base of the party (conservatives) and they lost to the Democrats (who have no real agenda).

The Democrats didn't win... the GOP RINO leadership lost. The U.S. is drifting to the right on some critical issues, and the GOP couldn't take advantage of those issues.

Most of loss stems from Bush's wrong directions, but also on corruption by largely RINO Congressmen. This loss lays at Bush's feet because he is the leader of the GOP party and controls who is rewarded and penalized within the party.

The pivotal point toward destruction came when Bush wanted to install democracy in Arab countries. This violated the no-more-Vietnams rule and no-wars-longer-than-two-years rule. Also, Bush aimed toward destruction when he spent money beyond what a drunken Democrat like LBJ or FDR would have done.

The tell-tale sign of hubris was the attempted installation of an unqualified crony into the Supreme Court. At that point, the hubris was starting to smell. This loss is a simple case of power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

The Democrats will now probably go too far to the left because their leadership (Pelosi, etc.) are left-wing wackos. The public will be repulsed by them -- hopefully in time for the next election.

It's not the end of the world. The GOP will recover. But it must hurry to reorganize or it will miss the next presidential election. We need a new, young non-political face. A young Reagan type governor. No McCain, no Guiliani. A conservative, common man, who doesn't smell of backroom deals.

Oh, and to think Frist actually thinks he will be competitive for the GOP presidental ticket in 08..
The GOP needs to come forward with some forward thinking candidtat and not the usual mealy mouth group that is out there.

GO RUSH... let's define conservatism!!! And we had better add that a LARGE component of the Republican base is RIGHT WING CONSERVATIVE, something that the party cannot DENY. If Republicans run from that, the party is over, split!!Elections are going to be much more defined as times go on. The election war in the future is going to be the battle for GOOD VS EVIL....

If we leave Iraq the war will not be over. These people are not going away, they want us dead

I completely agree. Still sick of the war, just not sick enough to do a cut and run. We are all sick of this war..

If you were disabled you would have a place to say something. Limbaugh is disabled, and I am disabled and had to work through it ALL MY LIFE, unlike Mieky boy for a few years. And I say loud and clear Mikey Fox is a manipulative lying b*****d son of a b***h and he manuipulated his disability and lied to everyone and didn't even read what he was pushing, and it was a cloning amendment not stem cell research. You really need to be quiet now and stop talking about this. Unless I am not allowed to rip Fox either in your professional estimation. let me know your worshipfullness.

Rush didn't help with his Michael J. Fox scenario. That was in very poor taste and I expected more from Rush.

Agreed. He was, of course, right on the facts of the ad and the science, but his presentation was clumsy and arrogant originally.

He's far from perfect. As soon as he said it that day they way he firstly did say it, I knew he stepped in it. He should have known better. But insecure Rush/Jeff Christie too often needs to be the center of the story. It was unfortunate the way he addressed it, and he did not help at all. Quite the opposite.

You know, I hesitate to say this for fear of flames, but there are too many here at FR who seem to not understand one important thing. (jmo) That is, that the bombast and the obvious self-righteousness of some of our conservative mouthpieces has a negative effect on our cause. Their arrogance angers the opposition and tends to energize them. It's very true, and it's time for us to admit it and try to find a way for our "spokesmen" to improve just a little. It would only help conservatives and the country.

I'm working now, and must get back to tasks, but this is a very serious subject to me, and I'd wish to talk about it later with anyone who may want to address it.

Just to add one thing ......... my grandfather, who was a very important man at a very prestigious eastern University back at the beginning of the depression. The school wanted to build a huge building on campus back then, the building was to be the second tallest one in the world at the time. Obviously, during those years money was tight, and it took some great persuasion to get leaders of the (financial) community in our city to take part and invest to make it all happen. My grandfather was said to have gotten it done because of his fine, calm temperament. He pulled all these different people together, architects, finance men, University officials, labor folks, etc., all of them with different desires and needs, and he got it done. He was a guy who listened, moderated and then directed effort. It really was quite startling, and he is still my greatest hero.

Too often our conservative spokesmen are DIRECTLY opposite this type of man. With their combativeness and self-righteous posturing they end up making enemies and energizing the opposition instead of influencing others over to our cause.......... which, after all, is what we want.

I know I did not say this too well, but I'm in a hurry to get back to work. But, I felt I had to say it. Talk with you all later hopefully.
