Let's not fool ourselves. If we become "Party uber Alles" robots then we are as doomed as we would be if we voted Dem. I for one was not an enthusiastic Bush supporter in this election cycle. I have been very troubled by four specific things:

1) We have been mucking around in Iraq longer than it took us to win WWII. The politically correct approach to winning a war will not work. Bad guys need to be killed, not counseled.

2) Spending and government growth are way out of control. So we got a token tax cut. If a small one was good, a big one would have been better.

3) Our country and certain western states have been invaded and colonized by Mexico and the president has turned a deaf ear to it in hopes of getting the (illegal?) Hispanic vote. Hey George, how'd that work for you?

4) Polls over principle governing. The party has consistently worked against strong conservatives in the interest of RINO's and "moderates". Hey Carl Rove, how'd that work for you?

This election was not a rejection of conservative principles, it was firing an incompetent work force.

"Our country and certain western states have been invaded and colonized by Mexico"

They voted against Hayworth and Graf. This is a vote for a bipartisan approach to moving Mexico up here. The only house of government to stand against the tide is dissolved. They love it. They want it. Democracy rules. Bush and the Dems will now give us all the illegals we can handle and many more. Learn Spanish. The voters have spoken.

1) We won the war in Iraq in a month. Get over it. It's been an occupation and reconstruction ever since, with every jihadi from around the planet coming to wreak havoc. Exacty where we wanted them to go. They have an elected gov't, constitution, oil flowing, a bustling economy and an insurgency/criminal element. We already won the war. Now it takes patience, which the limpwristers do not have. "let's nuke mecca" is for Savage idiots.

2) Token tax cuts? GWB is the biggest tax cutter in modern history, and it is a FACT, not conjecture on my part.

3) Yes, GWB AND the GOP have been bad on illegal Immigration, as has every other single administration back to Eisenhower. ANd the dems??????? MUCH MUCH MUCH worse.

4) IF there is ONE thing you can NEVER accuse Bush of doing is catering to the polls. That is beyond ridiculous.

No, the electionwas not a rejection of conservatism, is was a rejection of Bush by SOME conservatives who have no clue about history, in addition to too many milquetoast candidates.

How exactly do you define win? The US military has been involved in the reconstruction of several dozen countries over the past century. That takes time. The average is probably close to 5 years to rebuild a societies infrastructure.

WWII didn't end with VE or VJ day. We spend years afterwords rebuilding Germany and Japan.

Democrats had control for 50 years. It takes a while to turn back the clock. I think Republicans due better when they stick to their guns (e.g. conservative principles). But Bush has accomplished a lot in the past 6 years, we will retake the house in the next election and continue to move forward.

I just hope we don't cut and run in Iraq. We wouldn't just be abandoning a country like in Vietnam, we really would be creating a safe haven for terrorism of all forms.

RE: THE FOUR THINGS!

You are absolutely spot on. We lost the voters because we got away from acting decisively based on our core beliefs.

And getting an even more incompetent one, as far as achieving any real conservative agenda, heck even American objectives.
