I think that the Democrats' playbook is going to be "Bush screwed it up bad, but we're in charge and have the "international community" on our side again". So now we can wage this war "the right way".
Sometimes I think the best thing for our national security would be to elect a Scoop Jackson type of southern Democrat as President--somebody like Zell Miller who is effectively a moderate Republican but has the Democrat label. Then the MSM and the Dems would be responsible for national security and they would start tellin the truth and taking a much tougher line against terrorism and Iran and start backing up our military. The big problem with the MSM these days it they are so partisan now. They're like Soviets who put The Party ahead of everything else, including our national security.
Too bad there are no Zell Millers out there waiting to run for President. John Edwards is probably the best democrat candidate and he might make a decent president if learned something about foreign policy. But Hillary, Kerry, or Gore would be disastrous as president and if one of them get nominated then we have to make sure he/she loses to the Republican nominee. We must get Iraq into much better shape by 2008 and deal with Iran before then.
