I'd say we have about a day or so before the "Keyes for President" campaign starts here. A certain segment of people here love conservatives who lose elections by hugh and series margins.

The gloating by the 'Rats is bad enough, but the gloating among the so-called conservative Bush-haters is much worse.

Unfortunately globalism is a major factor in the rural textile towns of the South, industrial towns of the Great Lakes, rural Pennsylvania and the suburbs of high tech communities. I think the WSJ (to their horror) just acknowledged that economic nationalism is returning to the public forefront and the Dems have used it in conservative blue collar GOP districts to produce narrow margin victories. Globalism and free trade is the wedge issue that the Dems used to pry the Reagan Democrats from the GOP. I think the situation is temporary because the Dems believe in amnesty for illegals. If GWB forms a coalition with them to get amnesty for the illegals, the GOP can kiss the Reagan Dems goodbye for a long time.

I'm surprised we haven't seen a Buchanan 08 post, yet!

Honestly, I'll be interested to see how Rush paints this pig.

Yup, I'm amazed, I'd be interested to know from anyone in AZ what the heck happened. I can't believe that Arizona has become more liberal than Colorado or WI, or California for that matter(California passed a pro-marriage ballot initiative some years ago, though I think a judge may have struck it down.)

Looking at the big picture, though, it was a good night for marriage, at least. Pro family groups went 7/8, including some "purple" states like VA and WI, and Colorado defeated a civil unions bill in addition to passing the pro-marriage initiative. There are now 27 states with the traditional definition of marriage written into their state constitutions, safe (for now) from the meddling of activists judges and their ACLU cronies.

The next battleground I'm afraid is going to be New York ... the new governor (Spitzer) has promised to bring up a redefinition of marriage bill, and the Dims control the legislature. That's why these state amendments are so important, we need to contain radical anti-marriage forces, demostrate that they are extremists and prepare for the inevitable Federal battle.

A silver lining in the clouds today!

Did you see my response to Jeff last night #6,945.... I agree.

BTW I listened to about five minutes of Boortz this morning and he said he wondered how he would feel if this happened and today he feels good .. I turned it off... he has really damaged himself with me and I liked him.

Weary, huh? Wonder how they will feel when Iran starts sending in insurgents to massacre innocent Iraqi children? Or when we have a dirty bomb go off in one of our own cities? Not very good is my thought on the matter. Obviously, 911 didn't mean much to these people and the real winner here is Cindy Sheehan who would have us all bombed to kingdom come.

Flagstaff and Tucson are very liberal, Tempe is where our other major university is.... we have been inundated with immigrants just like California.

They don't trust or vote GOP... they bring their socialist tendencies from Mexico with them and are the first to learn how to work our system for all the freebee's.. sorry if you disagree, but it's a fact.

Read your FREEPmail.

BTW, I'm not a guy and I didn't NOT ask you which RINOS lost. I asked you who the conservatives are that you want to run. :-)

Going into the 2000 elections Bush DID have a Republican Congress. The fact is Bush had no "coattails" and couldn't maintain the majority. He couldn't keep Jeddords from "jumpin'

Great influence, eh?

Yes he did gain in 2004 but what was done with that "political capitol"?
Other than temporary tax cuts and two blank slate Supreme Court nominees and the WOT(only time will tell)on balance, what has Bush given conservatives?

Face it. our President's a good man with the best of intentions. However his greatest political advantages was his name and the good luck that his opportants were bigger political weeenies than him.

"When I write 'Mexican', I mean Mexican. An illegal alien from mexico is a Mexican, not a Mexican-American.*"

Thanks for clearing that up.

Then you are more than willing to roll over and play dead for the Democrats on immigrantion. You must be so happy today.

If you think Bush or any other Republican can "outbid" the Democrats in winning the "illegal" mexican vote then that is just dulusional.

The naturalization of those hardworking people, as Reagan did, could be used to turn those aliens into true Americans that pay taxes and appreciate private property rights, etc.

I guess that's why California is still a firmly Republican state. As is Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico etc. (heavy sarcasm)

Reagan's naturalization of millions of ILLEGALS only encourage millions more to do the same. And to make matters worse these ilegals rewarded Reagan by voting heavily Democratic.

It was a mistake then and it's a mistake now. How many more times does this has to be repeated for you to learn this?

it's not even on the RADAR in things people are concerned about.

You must have missed the 3 Arizona immigration propositions that passed by over 71% each!

"Why don't you run a 'real' conservative like Rick Santorum for president so that Hillary can be our next president?"

I'd rather vote for Santorum than a watered down country club republican.

But judging by your recent posts so far you would settle for a Clinton -lite candidate than a conservative.
