Please Mods can we have one central Live thread ...its tough jumping from thread to thread to get results.
We don't want any of them dirty negro votes, either, eh Red?
Why don't you run a 'real' conservative like Rick Santorum for president so that Hillary can be our next president?
Even so, those 8 lines already existed, and Bush is for the most part on our side with respect to embryonic stem cell research.
It's now "put up or shut up" time for the Dims. And I don't know how far "out there" any of them are willing to get with a Presidential election coming up in 2 years.
Measure 43 defeated? Sick.
I do not feel hopeful at this point. I think so many peoples' minds are so distorted by media lies and public school lies and political propaganda lies (but I repeat myself) that there is not much hope. It's a percentage thing. If all TVs broke tomorrow there'd be hope.
Yeah. Fine. Is abortion the only question/problem here? Who the hell decided that? Taxes, no one likes them but if our elected people felt that we the people were behind them they wouldn't be so fast to sell out to Tim Russert and his gang. If you haven't noticed the new problem that we all have is that our very survival is in question. It reminds me of 2 kids fighting over a comic book in the back seat of their parents' car as the car goes over a cliff.
If conservative means that I believe that 1 man and 1 woman makes a marriage; I know where babies come from and I only send for one when I can take care of it; that our country's flag flying in the wind is the most beautiful sight in the world; that our armed service members are heroic and good; and that everyone should WORK for a living and those that need a little help should get it---then yes, I am a conservative. But I'm just a regular American trying to get thru the day.
This is how I feel: if in the course of a pregnancy, it is determined that the baby has no chance to survive or that he would be forced to live a life of illness and pain, I think the parents should be given the option of sending back to God.
I'm in agreement with you. My point is, onto every plate a little brocolli must fall. There are two positions on which I will not compromise, pro-life and anti-gay marriage. It's important to be pragmatic as well.
We must stop with the attitude that we have a monopoly on morality. As in, many Democrats voted against gay marriage. That was an opportunity to speak about other issues.
Call me a heretic but I personally don't believe most people are conservative, they are traditionalists and there is a big difference between the two. Hitler described it as the "good Jew principle". All Germans knew a good Jew, a baker, a tailor or a banker, so how could they possibly expand the specific to a general situation.
The Democrats applied that theory in reverse against the Republicans. The American public knew the Democrats were vile but the Dems didn't care, they didn't make value judgements. Then, when the Foley scandal was trumpeted, the corruption scandals with Abramoff, etc. the Dems were able to point at that behaviour and say, see it's do as I say, not as I do.
Already past long story short, you can't shame the shameless.
one man's truth is another man's crapola.
Good morning.
"We can't give up the fight."
No surrender, no retreat, but sometimes all you can do is back off and lick your wounds.
After that comes payback and we all know what that is.

There are people on this thread celebrating the loss of DeWine and hence the loss of the Senate. When Sherrod Brown casts a vote to kill a SCOTUS nominee then reality might set in, but I doubt it.
Maybe you're not as smart as you think you are.
When I write 'Mexican', I mean Mexican. An illegal alien from mexico is a Mexican, not a Mexican-American.*
The naturalization of those hardworking people, as Reagan did, could be used to turn those aliens into true Americans that pay taxes and appreciate private property rights, etc. Hence, their conservative, predominantly catholic tendencies might've been attracted to a Republican Party that said, "You're here, now come forward, pay up, and join in." Instead, the GOP said, "Dirty Mexicans, GO HOME and STAY OUT."
*And I don't go in for all that hyphenated race BS either. You're either an American Citizen, or you're not.
except you made that post while VA and MO and MT results were not known.
No he wasn't. In 2000 the Senate split 50-50 until Jim Jeffords Jumped. In 2002 and 2004 the Republicans GAINED Senate seats. Yes, we lost up to six yesterday -- but don't forget Reagan lost eight in 1986.
Also, if you actually believe that there were ever 51 conservative Senators the past two years then you must not have been paying attention here when many posters screamed about the dozen or so "RINOs". You think the Maine gals, Chafee, Specter, Hagel, McCain, Dewine, Voinovich etc. are conservative? Were you not paying attention during the Bolton hearings and the judicial nominations?
fair enough. The way the damn media is I didn't think they were that close
