Please Mods can we have one central Live thread ...its tough jumping from thread to thread to get results.
The Senate voted down Kyoto something like 95-5. It isn't going to pass the Senate, even now.
"Democrats continue to be optimistic about the Montana Senate race. Democratic Senate campaign committee spokesman Phil Singer says: "We see Montana going in our direction...We feel like we've got it."
But also:
A spokesman for the Conrad Burns campaign (R) says the race is definitely tightening. However, he admits one distressing signal: that Tester (D) is leading in Yellowstone County, which Republicans HAVE to win to win statewide.": Still, he says the race is tight and won't be decided for a while. "I don't think we'll know for a while."
And in a late breaking development, Burns now leads by 4000 votes (10%) in Yellowstone with 4 of 69 precincts reporting
"I noticed the same."
Why was that, I wonder?
I'm stupified...it's as if all common sense had left the people of America.

I for one am very upset about this looming over our heads, I still remember Vietnam too clearly and how the dems withdrew funding and forced us to withdraw.
We'll see how Tester while invoke change. LOL
Tell that to all of those here on FR who pound on the Libertarians and even the small "l" libertarians every chance they get.
Libertarians have little in common with big government social conservatives.
Amen.
I am almost ready to be put out of my misery.
Montana SOS web site indicates that Burns is holding GOP voters 88-11; Tester is holding RATS 91-7; and Burns is losing the independents 59-39.
Sounds like a lot of people listened to Michael Savage and Neal Boortz and voted dem.
hmmm, interesting....as a Montanan, I am sitting here with knots in my stomach and a sinking feeling. Wouldn't we all love to see Burns come through!
I saw with my own eyes the apathy here
You are right...our base has become apathetic. I hope this election wakes some people up!
And William Jefferson won!
I remember Vietnam too. It looks like Iraq will end up the same way.
I had so much hope for that country, I saw it as another Turkey or Morroco, maybe Jordan, where there would be some semblance of freedom and democracy.

"I'm stupified...it's as if all common sense had left the people of America."
Those who had it in the first place.
Boortz has never told anyone to vote for the Democrats. It is not clear why you keep blaming Boortz for this.
That's something he carried with him through every debate.
The Democrats may not screw up the country as bad as some say, Bush still has veto power. We'll see this faux conservatism in action from the Democrats for the next two years. Hopefully in that time we won't get attacked.
Thank you for a civil reply that included an actual explanation.
Now I understand.
BTW, Steele just announced he isn't conceding due to a large number of absentee ballots that haven't been counted, but obviously if the vote spread is greater than the number of absentee ballots, there's no hope. But perhaps there are more than that since he isn't conceding......yet. That would be an awful lot of absentee ballots for a population the size of MD's, though.
