Please Mods can we have one central Live thread ...its tough jumping from thread to thread to get results.
Oh I don't underestimate her. She's not in the same league as her hubby but she's up there as far as bamboozling people.
I can't think of a single GOPer except for Rudy that can beat her. I like Newt but he would get crushed. God should I say it - Jeb?
"The Dems need to win Virginia, Missouri and Montana in order to take the Senate. Montana looks like it is theirs. So, they need VA and MO and they win the Senate. One out of two and Cheney breaks the tie..."
The GOP will keep the Senate.
That's more like it... What was that blip we saw earlier? How close is this race really?
You have been a dose of ice water all night...but you are right. Looking back on our history, this country has come through TRUE disasters, this is simply a political blow to the solar plexus. It's basically been a 51/49 country for a long time, but the war pushed this over the edge.
The next two years, and the 08 election will be critical.
I think Talent is gonna squeak it out.
It will depend on what precincts in those counties are still out. Based on the percentages and converting to raw numbers that would be a 30k vote edge to McCaskill. If these are the inner city that would probably take it towards 40-45k. The other counties should likely break Talent.
"Does anyone really believe if the Iraq war had not taken place that we would be dealing with these heavy losses tonight?"
No, but Saddam had to be taken out following 9/11. THe war itself went well. The peace has unfortunately not been too peaceful and judging by the elections tonight, people are sick of it.
They'll just say they aren't defunding the war on Terror, just Bush's "illegitimate" war in Iraq. As if the latter had nothing to do with the former.
Biggest losers tonight? The people of Iraq. They are going straight to hell. Not that Democrats care.
Well, we can forget about getting any decent Supreme Court nominees even out of committee. Should there be a vacancy, the RATS will stall until after the 2008 elections, hoping a RAT is elected president.
This is unbelievable. What began as a decent evening has turned to disaster.
the senate is not in the bag yet, not by a longshot.
I'm blaming the leftist media, and the 'conservative' talking heads whose ego and craving attention have caused them to bash President Bush without ceasing for the past two years.
If any of them are honest, they will accept part of the blame for what happened today.
But they won't.
If our troops lose because of Dem control of the House, then Boortz and Malkin are in part responsible for it. If our efforts to save the unborn are set back, then these 'conservatives' are in part responsible.
FOX just said Murtha is going to make a move for Ways and Means -- funding the war...
Maria Shriver taking the stage
Between the dumbing down of Americans through public education, the MSM and the entertainment industry, it's a wonder things aren't worse than they are.
Or then Mrs. Snowe pulls a Jeffords? :)
Can't argue with that ... but I still say, no evidence has been produced so far that the base stayed home, or that this loss can be attributed to the marginal handful that wanted to teach the GOP a lesson.
Look, he won't be impeached. But the process and hearings are what they want. They will get the support of the MSM, terrorists and the UN. They want the history books to show that Bush was in impeachment hearings, if for the only reason to make Clinton look better. It will distract this country long enough and open the doors to more appeasement and eventually, another terrorist strike on our soil.
