No Presidential nod for Allen, is what it means.

Some analyst on Fox 5 in DC said there are 100,000 absentee ballots yet to be counted and then the lawyers will start challenging ballots - Florida 2000 all over again.

I am watching the Commonwealth of VA's page and they have 57 precincts outstanding with Allen still up by 3K.

I personally didn't agree with Allens campaign agenda stuck on abortion.

If you think Allen's campaign agenda was "stuck on abortion" you weren't paying attention.

NRTL ran ads for him, but he didn't focus on it.

Fox is so happy to see a recount in VA. Especially if it means control of the senate. All they're after is ratings.

I believe it. It's got to be the closest statewide election in a long time here, maybe ever. We're going to end up with somewhere north of 2.3 million votes being cast and the margin will be no more than a few thousand, and then come the absentees. And then come the lawyers. What a mess.

The count hasn't updated in 10 minutes. I think they're done for the night.

Actually the AG race last year came down to about 400 votes. McDonnell won in the recount.

The Fairfax, Arlington and Va Beach numbers are the absentees.

Yep. The precincts are mostly in areas that have been trending slightly Webb (Prince William, Loudoun) with three in Fairfax and one in Arlington (much stronger for Webb), and one in Virginia Beach (slight Allen). The nasty ones are the four left in Richmond, which is 73-26 Webb right now. Unless the results in PW are all in precincts that sample heavily for Allen (meaning the first ones that reported were big-time Webb), I'm not seeing how Webb doesn't come out of this with a miniscule--like, sub-1000-vote--lead before the absentees and military get added on.

I think it opens the field. Had we won tonight I think Mccain or Gulliani would have gotten the nod for POTUS. Now I'm not sure. Personally I dont like either one especially Mccain. Even though I once voted for him in a primary years ago.

Best line from 2006 elections for me.

Politicans are like diapers they need to be changed often and for the same reason.

VA just flipped to Webb on CNN with a 3000 vote lead with 99% reporting, almost exactly as I predicted.
