Live from CNN's Blogomania at Tryst 11/07 05:00 PM CNN's setup is wild - lots of folks whose faces you vaguely recognize, then lots of folks whose blog you recognize. Avarosis is here - whatever you think of his blog, he's a true gentlemen. He and Krempasky and Jerome Armstrong are all sitting near each other. They may talk to the bloggers around 7ish. Every indicator I have says the GOP base turned out. Whether that's enough to hold the House isnt clear; it ought to mean some good news in the Senate races. We're going to see what happens when the GOP base turns out in a tough year; if nothing else, the Republicans have pretty much shot the 40-50-60 seat gain talk all to hell.

Turnout in Virginia is way up; but they didn't have a very contested race in 2004, they did this year. Some precincts were at 80 percent of 2005 shortly after noon. The good news for Allen is that the turnout is as big in Southwest as in the Northern D.C. suburbs.

An exciting night ahead of us...

So far, it seems as if the Democrats are turning out a higher than average vote for an off year but it looks as though the Republican base is REALLY turning out.

Ehrlich wasn't the only one sending out a plea for voters. Supposedly O'Malley's campaign did the same thing with their supporters. So I wouldn't interpret the Ehrlich E-mail as a desperate action.

That is what Cameron was saying much earlier on FNC but that was hours ago. How can they know for sure? Kind of like predicting Kerry won the presidency.

Turnout is the key to the election. If the base sat it out, we wouldn't even be discussing holding the Senate at all.

i just heard on hannity that allen is in trouble according to his sources.

Supposing for just a moment that Allen really was in trouble (and at this point it's all rumor - no one knows what's going on), just remember that the Dems need to run the table. The Allen race is just one of many that must be won in order to take the Senate.

I agree with the part about Rush--his voice was perky, but on Fox, and maybe it's just lack of sleep, he didn't look confident. Then again, I saw him in person a month ago and he's lost alot of weight, which he said he always does during a campaign.

LMAO! I remember the initial panic on FR in 2004 when the initial reports showed a big Kerry win. When the votes were counted, Bush was re-elected and the GOP increased their hold on Congress. So I wouldn't put much credence into any reports. Its just too early to tell how its going to go tonight.

It was just reported on Hannity that turnout in the Ohio urban areas have been very low and its been very high (75-80%) in the rural areas. The analysis concluded that most (8 to 9) of the Ohio critical House seats may remain in Rep hands.

I just care about three things--Senate control, Talent, and MO Prop 2 Cloning. From your eyes to God's ears--I hope that your interpretation is right.

To heck with all this exit poll nonsense. I'm going to do what I did in 2004. After dinner I'm going to shut off the droning drooling media, get away from the Internet, read a good book (I'll finish Steyn's "America Alone") and get to bed early.

[I remember the initial panic on FR in 2004 when the initial reports showed a big Kerry win. When the votes were counted, Bush was re-elected]

That's because the reports are based on exit polls which have been suffering from greatly increasing amounts of sampling error over the past few elections. The amount of error in the Kerry v. Bush exit polls in 04 was LAUGHABLE yet for some reason there are those who still believe in their accuracy.
