John Kerry, the recent Democrat Presidential candidate, talked about the importance of world opinion in American government in 2004. "But if and when you do it [launch a pre-emptive war], Jim, you have to do it in a way that passes the test, that passes the global test where your countrymen, your people understand fully why you're doing what you're doing and you can prove to the world that you did it for legitimate reasons."
Enlightened Supreme Court justice Anthony Kennedy crafted a capital punishment decision in 2005 that took into international law into account: "It is proper that we acknowledge the overwhelming weight of international opinion against the juvenile death penalty..."
Surely there must be an active role for international opinion in American elections, for defining not only red and blue states, but red and blue countries as well.

It is only proper that you put a sock in it.
India probably leans red now, due to their experiences in dealing with muslim terrorists. Ditto for the Philippines. And Canada's government leans red while the populace leans blue. Although the prairies and western provinces are red, but the large population provinces of Ontario and Quebec are not. And Denmark is trending more red thanks to the reaction from the Jyllands-Posten cartoon controversy.
We must not suffer fools in our midst at times like these.
Or for that matter, at any time.
We owe it to our fellow citizens and our dear country to act responsibly and ignore silly distractions.
