I am going to say something that is going to be contrarian to most on this thread. I love Karl Rove, but I am not sure he is the greatest tactician ever.

My first reason for this is that Rove should have never put the GOP down this far behind in the first place. Tone-deaf incidents/concerns like Harriet Miers, Illegal aliens, and Dubai Port Deal discouraged alot of the GOP political base and it never should have happened.

In 2004 the GOP was so far behind until the Swift Boat Vets came out swinging with the truth in August of that campaign year. Totally independent of the Bush campaign. Bush/Rove got lucky with a quick turnaround in the poll numbers because of that.

Now, Rove and Mehlmann's GOP turnout plan was an absolute machine. I give them immense credit for that. It was so effective that it even countered the democrats usually superior get out the vote effort of driving people to the polls in schools buses. Furthermore, they qualified their voters, whereas democrats rely on people like college students who are too stoned to vote.

If Rove pulls off a political draw and the GOP holds the Senate and House, he then truly is a political genius, the best since Haley Barbour.

Ok... so do you want on the RYMB list or not?

I respect your opinion but I think you miss the whole thing about Rovi-Wan.

This will drive the DUmmies insane! They believe in all the Perfect Rovian Storm Twaddle, and we enjoy the heck out of it.

Feh...don't overthink this. Most of the power of the legend is in the popularity of the legend, not necessarily the object of the legend. The NAME of Rove is now more powerful than Rove himself...speak it, and the DUmmies are set all akimbo.

Of course he isn't. That is not the point. The point is that the dims have built him into this eee-vil genius who controls everything. (Including the weather)

To play on their delusion we are giving Rove credit for everything that goes our way.

And Rove wants you to believe that. ;-)
